NYY News: Torres balked at 3B possibility

SNY | Phillip Martinez : In an appearance on the YES Network on Thursday night, Brian Cashman had some comments that may be revealing as to why a reunion with Gleyber Torres this offseason never came to fruition.
Cashman claimed that the plan with last summers Jazz Chisholm Jr.
trade was for Torres to move to third with the new acquisition taking over at second.
Of course, the opposite was what happened on the field, with Cashman claiming that Torres was unwilling to play the hot corner.
Torres definitely was a bit testy about the idea of playing third following the trade, but airing this publicly probably shows why neither side went back to the other this offseason.
ESPN | Alden Gonzalez : Some rumors had been surrounding the Yankees and third baseman Yoan Moncada, but thats now officially off the table with the news that Moncada has agreed to a one-year deal with the Angels.
The former top prospect and 25-homer hitter will get $5 million as he attempts to rebuild his value after a sour end to his White Sox tenure.
MLB Trade Rumors | Steve Adams : While the Yankees brought one reliever back in Tim Hill earlier this week, another one has gone elsewhere as Lou Trivino signed a minor-league deal with the Giants.
Acquired as part of the Frankie Montas trade in 2022, Trivino was good down the stretch for the Yankees that season, but has missed all of the last two after undergoing Tommy John surgery and underwhelming late in 2024 at Triple-A.
MLB.com | Michael Clair : In a bit of fun former Yankee and international baseball news, former Bombers catcher and 2009 World Series champion Francisco Cervelli will manage Team Italy in the 2026 World Baseball Classic .
Cervelli formerly played for the Italian team in the 2009 and 17 editions of the tournament, and hes planning to go on the recruiting path himself in Italy to find some hidden gems..
