Approaching 1,000 points, Shawsheen Tech’s Franck Moron a special player

BILLERICA Friday night cant get here fast enough for Franck Moron.
The Shawsheen Tech senior and his Rams teammates will play their biggest game of the season against Greater Lawrence.
A win and both teams would have two league losses as the frontrunners of the Commonwealth Athletic Conference.
A loss would give the Reggies the title outright.
In addition, Moron, the sharp-shooting senior guard who is averaging over 20 points and eight rebounds a game, is six points away from reaching 1,000 points in his career.
The Billerica resident and two-time league all-star will become the fourth player in history to achieve the milestone and the first since 2008 when his head coach, Joe Gore, became the third.
And the kicker? Moron will celebrate the milestone on the court with his two brothers Jevon, the teams starting point guard, and DSean, the teams sixth/seventh player.
Its going to be special, he said, noting the spelling of his first name is after his father, whose mother is originally from Haiti.
Itll feel good because I know I have put a lot into (my career) but its also props to my teammates.
They are the ones who give me the ball, they have faith in me, and they are the ones who have helped build up my confidence.
Moron was a football player before he switched to basketball as a seventh-grader.
Three years later, he made the Rams varsity team and midway through that freshman year he became a starter and has never looked back.
Along the way, he has made vast improvements to his game.
After his freshman year, he paid a visit to Jeff Nelson, the longtime NBA scout and former Tewksbury High coach who helped Moron make an adjustment to his shooting form.
After Morons junior year, he knew he needed more strength.
He found a second home at Athletic Evolution in Woburn and went from 120 pounds to 160 pounds.
Now bigger, stronger and faster, Moron is one of the top players in the league and area.
On Tuesday night, he scored 32 points in a win against Lowell Catholic.
Franck can score with the best of them.
We rely so much on him on the offensive side of the ball.
He can score at all levels (inside, mid-range and perimeter), said Gore.
Over the last six games, his three-point shot has really come into fruition.
He just does everything offensively and thats what makes it so difficult to guard him.
He can get to the rim with the best of them, he can score in transition, he does everything at the rim, like finger-tipping, and his three-point shot off the dribble is second to none.
Moron says his game has drastically improved because of his good buddy Matt Breen, the 6-foot-8 center.
Gore said prior to this year, Breen was grabbing all the headlines and Moron never let that get to him.
Instead, it was the opposite.
Matts my guy so Id never be jealous, said Moron, aware that Breen is a few games away from reaching 1,000 career points.
Im very happy that Matt has had so much success.
I wouldnt want it any other way.
Im proud of him.
Moron is a major reason the Rams are 13-2, 7-2 in league play.
Come Friday, Breen and in particular two other teammates will be beaming with pride once the game stops to recognize Franck Moron as the programs first 1,000th point scorer in 17 years.
It was very competitive between (my brothers and I) growing up and it still is.
We like to go at each other, keep each other accountable and try to learn from each other as much as possible, said Franck, who said Jevon is best at setting up his teammates and DSean is the best defender of the three.
If we disagree with something, we (settle it at home).
If something happens in the game, its just lets take the advice and move on.
We know this is the last year that we will play together, so its been a pretty special season for all of us, added Moron..
