New Jersey Devils goalie Jacob Markstrom to miss 4 to 6 weeks with MCL sprain

New Jersey Devils goaltender Jacob Markstrom will miss four to six weeks on the ice after suffering an MCL sprain, the team announced Friday.
Markstrom suffered the injury in the first period of Wednesday nights matchup against the Boston Bruins .
Markstrom will miss the remainder of the clubs games leading into the Four Nations break and will begin a rehab program under the tutelage of the Devils athlete care staff.

Markstrom is 21-9-5 with three shutouts and carries a goals against average of 2.20 with a .912 save percentage.
But with the Four Nations break, the injury comes at a fortunate time for the club sitting in third in the Metropolitan Division standings.
Advertisement Devils backup goaltender Jake Allen is likely to replace Markstrom as the starter in the coming weeks.
Once relieving Markstrom, Allen didnt allow a goal against 16 shots in the Devils 5-1 home win.
Prior to Wednesdays contest, the 34-year-old had started 14 games this season, winning six times and hosting a goals against average of 2.66 to go along with a .904 save percentage.
