The Boston Bruins have called up another player from AHL Providence and likely added another player to their ever-growing list of injuries.

Boston recalled goalie Michael DiPietro on Thursday ahead of their game against the Ottawa Senators.

The move comes less than 24 hours after they pulled star netminder Jeremy Swayman from his start against the New Jersey Devils early.

The #NHLBruins have recalled goalie Michael DiPietro from Providence.

Joe Sacco said after last night's loss in NJ that Jeremy Swayman was "dealing with something minor," which is why he was removed from the game before the third period.

He was dealing with something minor, so we thought it would be best with the way the game was going to get him out there after the second period, Bruins interim coach Joe Sacco told reporters in Newark after the game .

Its not yet clear what exactly that something minor is or how long it will affect Swayman, but the decision to call up DiPietro indicates he wont be available this evening against Ottawa.

DiPietro, 25, has appeared in 22 games with Providence this season, recording an overall record of 14-5-3 with a 1.95 goals against average, a .930 save percentage and three shutouts.

He was recently named an AHL All-Star and currently ranks second in the league in goals-against average, fourth in save percentage, and fourth in wins.
