NYY News: A HBP paints a half-million dollar picture

The Athletic | Brendan Kuty ($) : There are tons of stories about CC Sabathias impact on the Yankees , on and off the field, as well as his competitive nature.
But on the heels of his entry into the Hall of Fame (congrats, Big Fella), one story in particular stands out regarding Sabathia as an outstanding teammate.
Two innings from a half-million dollar bonus for innings pitched, Sabathis took the mound against the Rays.
The problem? Rays reliever Andrew Kittredge had just thrown at CCs catcher, Austin Romine.
Romine tried to talk CC out of retaliating.
Nope, Sabathia said.
First dude.
And thats what happened.
93 mph, his fastest pitch of the night, directly into the posterior of Rays catcher Jesus Sucre.
Then, CC pointed to Kittredge and said something I wont repeat.
This is a family sports blog.
NJ.com | Manny Gomez : On the heels of the Dodgers signing literally everyone in free agency (ok, not quite), one could be forgiven for thinking that LA is the sole bete noire in MLB.
Not so.
Chicago Cubs chairman Tom Ricketts doesnt hesitate to throw the Yankees into the mix as a club against whom it is difficult to compete.
I guess Id be more sympathetic if the Ricketts family didnt have a net worth of around $4.5 billion.
On the positive side, its nice that someone lumps the Yanks in with the Dodgers (and the Mets ).
Athlon Sports | Kristie Ackert : Its understandable if some Yankees fans are disappointed with the offseason, after Juan Soto traded in his pinstripes to play for the Mets.
But former Yankee Johnny Damon thinks the Bronx Bombers are in great shape headed into 2025.
In an interview, the 2009 World Series champ (seriously, his steal of second and third on the same play is still one of the smartest things Ive ever seen on a diamond) offered Even losing one of the greatest players of all time, what they added was depth.
I think theyre not done yet.
The Yankees have more money to still go out and sign some key players.
I do think the Yankees improved the most.
Im with you, Johnny.
Heres hoping..
