The Hastings College quarterback room just got a lot more experienced.

The Broncos got a lot more Synek.

Late Monday night, Hastings native Jarrett Synek announced he was transferring back home to play his fifth season of college football with the Broncos.

Excited to be able to finish my career where it all started! Synek wrote on X.

The post was accompanied by a photo of him holding a crimson Hastings College No.

11 jersey, with his older brother Quentin who played wide receiver for the Broncos and younger brother Tucker also in frame and wearing a No.

4 jersey.

Tucker, a senior at Hastings High, posted the same photo on his X account with a similar sentiment.

Hastings College will be Jarretts third college stop.

The first two Nebraska and then South Dakota were at the NCAA Division I level.

The Broncos are an NAIA school, playing in the Great Plains Athletic Conference one of the most competitive leagues at that level with at least two perennial powers (Morningside and Northwestern College) and another (Dordt) on the rise.

Jarrett quarterbacked Hastings High to the Class B state semifinals in 2020.

He was named the Tribland 11-man Player of the Year after throwing for 2,903 yards, rushing for 600 yards, and scoring 37 touchdowns.

Despite holding offers from several Division II and NAIA programs, including Wayne State, Sioux Falls, Bemidji State, Augustana and Washburn, Jarrett opted to sign with Nebraska then coached by Scott Frost as a walk-on.

He redshirted his first season in 2021.

Through his own hard work and some hard luck for the Huskers, Jarrett earned an opportunity on the field with Nebraska in 2022.

He quarterbacked the teams final drive at Michigan, which was ranked No.

3 at the time.

Following that season, he transferred to South Dakota, where he played in a total of six games across the last two seasons just one in 2024 for the FCS Coyotes.

Tucker quarterbacked Hastings High to back-to-back playoff appearances.

He threw for just shy of 4,200 yards over the last two seasons, accounting for 35 touchdowns (29 passing, six rushing).

Hastings College is in a situation of having taken one step forward in 2022, with seven wins, and two steps back the last two seasons.

The Broncos were just 2-9 last fall, losing their final six contests.

Following the season, head coach Matt Franzen fired former national champion Ken Fasnacht as offensive coordinator and hired James Bauer away from Kansas Wesleyan.

HCs quarterbacks this season were sophomore Carson Kudlacek (St.

Cecilia) and freshman Cassius Campbell.

The Broncos ranked 80th of 94 NAIA teams in total offense in 2024..
