‘There’s a chance’: Johni Broome will warm up before Tennessee game, could play

Auburn head coach Bruce Pearl was enthusiastic about the possibility of Johni Broome playing against Tennessee during his appearance on College Gameday on Saturday morning.

Broome has missed the last two games with an ankle injury.

Pearl gave the latest update on Broomes status Saturday morning on Gameday around 10:45 a.m.

I think theres a chance, Pearl said.

Hes going to warm up.

He wants to play.

But if in warmups he doesnt feel good about it, hes not going to play.

But Im guessing, with you guys here (Gameday), with these guys here (the student section), Johni Broome is going to take the (floor) Thats my guess.

Broome, often described as a major candidate for National Player of the Year, is averaging 17.9 points per game along with 10.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.7 blocks.

He was injured rolling his ankle in the South Carolina game, though MRI the next morning revealed he would not need surgery.

The Tigers have gone 2-0 without him with wins over Mississippi State and Georgia.
