NHL Player Safety makes decision on Connor McDavid, Minnesota Wild call out Oilers Captain

In last night's game between the Edmonton Oilers and Minnesota Wild, Connor McDavid connected an elbow to the head of with Marcus Johansson, and is being called out for it.

Oilers analyst Daniel Nugent-Bowman believed McDavid could see a fine from player safety for the hit.

However, a new report from Frank Seravalli indicates that the NHL will not be pursuing any discipline for McDavid.

Minnesota Wild Call Out Connor McDavid for Elbow on Johansson After the game, the Minnesota Wild were clearly livid with McDavid's hit on Johansson and the lack of a penalty called.

Defenceman Jacob Middleton directly criticized the referees, and said McDavid doesn't deserve special treatment.

Coach John Hynes was visibly infuriated by the non-call, saying that it was a distinct elbow but would not speak further.

McDavid did pop out his elbow to connect with the head of Johansson, which is an avoidable head contact resulting in an injury.

It was a pretty light contact, but considering the injury, it's surprising McDavid wasn't fined at least.

Connor McDavid Responds to Questionable Hit on Marcus Johansson In an interview with TNT after the game, McDavid addressed the hit on Johansson and expressed total remorse for an accidental contact.

As McDavid said, it's just incredibly unfortunate that Johansson wasn't hurt.

It's surprising to see McDavid not even receive a fine for an unpenalized head contact that resulted in injury.

The Oilers and McDavid may have lucked out here.
