After a team effort to beat the Philadelphia 76ers, a former NBA All-Star praised the Knicks for their gritty style of play.

On Wednesday, the New York Knicks earned a tough victory over the Philadelphia 76ers, winning 125-119 in overtime.

Jalen Brunson led all scorers with 38 points, and Josh Hart added a triple-double where he scored fewer points than rebounds and assists.

In overtime, Brunson took over, scoring eight points by himself, although, according to one former player, the Knicks just wanted it more and managed to outplay the Sixers down the stretch.

With the win, the Knicks still hold third place in the Eastern Conference and dont appear to be going anywhere, as they are a full two games behind the Boston Celtics and 3.5 games ahead of the Orlando Magic.

Josh Hart earns high praise Hart scored only 10 points in the game , and his scoring efficiency left a lot to be desired.

However, he added 17 rebounds (five offensive) and dished out a team-high 12 assists.

The Knicks are headlined by Karl-Anthony Towns, who missed the game due to injury, and Brunson.

Both are superstars in their own right, but Hart does all the dirty work and plays winning basketball.

I dont know what the Knicks would do without his rebounding, honestly, praised Wally Szczerbiak on MSG Network.

His rebounding is the most important key I think to this whole entire team clicking and being successful.

He gets every loose ball that he is around.

His hands are so quick, he is the ultimate glue guy, swiss army knife, whatever you want to call him.

In the third quarter, Paul George muscled his way down low and went up for a contested layup, but Hart stuffed him, refusing to allow the nine-time All-Star to get his shot off.

Szczerbiak said Hart just wants it more and is having a career year.

Brunson has become an established superstar in the league While Hart does all the gritty, unglamorous stuff that makes him a fan favorite, Brunson is one of the very best players in the league.

Both he and Towns will likely receive MVP votes this year.

As the NBA turns to a shot diet made almost entirely of 3-pointers and layups, Brunson has perfected the floater and went 8-11 from the midrange against Philly.

When he shoots that floater, he does not miss that floater, continued Szczerbiak.

There were a couple of times in the beginning of the year, he was missing shots, I was like those are ones he always makes, but now, all those shots are going in, and his numbers are just skyrocketing.

Eight of the Knicks next ten games come against teams that are either in the Play-In Tournament or playoffs, so eking out a tough game against a struggling Sixers team is little cause for celebration, but with Hart and Brunson firing, the Knicks are one of the toughest teams in the league.
