Video: Mel Kiper Jr. Discusses NFL Draft QB Rankings for Shedeur Sanders, Beck, More

Mel Kiper Jr.
has weighed in on the top quarterback prospects of the 2025 NFL Draft.
During an appearance on ESPN's First Draft , the NFL Draft analyst delivered his current view of all the available quarterbacks for the next NFL Draft.
He identified Colorado's Shedeur Sanders, Georgia's Carson Beck and Texas' Quinn Ewers as the players "vying" to be the first quarterback off of the board and that they are the clear top three.
Sanders, Beck and Ewers enter the 2024 season after strong 2023 seasons and could be considered Heisman hopefuls.
Sanders is hoping to lift Colorado back to bowl eligibility this season while Beck and Ewers play for teams with legitimate national championship hopes.
Another intriguing option could be Penn State quarterback Drew Allar, who Kiper said passed the eye test but needs to show more production on the field in order to rise up boards.
"He throws with anticipation and he looks the part," Kiper said.
"He looks like 'that guy' but something has been missing....right now he's at six, seven in the quarterback ranking." Allar led Penn State to a 10-3 record in 2023 and the team has high hopes for 2024.
However, Allar's stats last season weren't overly impressive.
He threw for 2,631 yards with 25 touchdowns and two interceptions but he will need to be a true game-breaker in order for Penn State to reach the playoff.
A player he isn't super high on is Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel, who he called a great player at the collegiate level but someone who probably projects best as a backup.
"Great college quarterback, no doubt," Kiper said.
"Is he a backup in the NFL, is he a starter? That's going to be a debate.
I currently have him as my 9th, 10th, 11th quarterback in this draft right now." Gabriel is with his third collegiate program in his sixth season.
He has been extremely successful and should make Oregon a contender for a high seed in the College Football Playoff.
However, his smaller frame could make him a less intriguing option for NFL teams and Kiper believes he has an upward battle to solidify a pro career.
The collegiate season is only entering Week 2 so these quarterbacks have some time to solidify their status'.
However, Kiper's early prediction should give NFL fans some names to watch out for..
