Steve Sarkisian shows massive respect to Quinn Ewers after loss to Ohio State

The seemingly final chapter of the Quinn Ewers story with the Texas Longhorns ended on a sour note, but the ultimate Ewers experience at Texas was a great one.
It has to be hard for Texas fans to see it now, as they're still smarting from the 28-14 loss to Ohio State in the College Football Playoff semifinal in the Cotton Bowl, but Ewers has been a star during his time at Texas.
As the Longhorns potentially prepare to move on to Arch Manning and Ewers sets his sights on the NFL, it's worth remembering that Ewers is a former five-star recruit and the former No.
1 overall recruit in the nation who ultimately transferred from Ohio State to Texas to bring the Longhorns back onto the national stage.
He's been one of the best quarterbacks in the nation when healthy over the past three seasons, and according to head coach Steve Sarkisian, he's one heck of a teammate and competitor as well.
Im super proud of Quinn.
Hes taught me a lot, probably unknowingly to him, because of what he went through every year, dealing with injuries, what he goes through where I dont know if hed ever live up to the standards of what everybody thinks hes supposed to be.
But at the end of the day, all he did was show up every day and work and be a great leader and be a great teammate, and that thats a real credit to him, Sarkisian said of Ewers after the loss to Ohio State ( h/t On3 ).
Sarkisian mentioned that it's hard for star players to stay focused and emotionally in the middle of the boat in today's reactionary and social media-addicted sports culture, but Ewers never let the pressure of being the quarterback at Texas impact him.
"You know, all he did was come to work every day.
All he did was be a great teammate.
All he did was work on his craft, get himself as healthy as he could when he was injured, and then show up, and when it was time to show up maybe, outside of the first two games, I dont think he played a game this year 100% healthy, and he fought through everything.
Never complained about it one time.
I think thats why he has so much respect from his teammates," Sarkisian said.
Ewers finished 2024 with 3,472 yards and 31 touchdowns thrown compared to 12 interceptions.
Unfortunately, he struggled a bit against Ohio State, completing just 23-of-39 passes for 283 yards and two touchdowns with an interception and a fumble lost which was scooped up by OSU's Jack Sawyer for the game-icing touchdown..
