Well, hot damn! Edmonton Oilers superstar Connor McDavid might be one of the best players in the NHL, but that doesnt mean that the league wont throw punishment at him.
Because they did.
The captain of the Oilers has been suspended for three games after a scene in Saturdays game against the Vancouver Canucks saw him deliver a dirty cross-check on an opp.

Thats right, ladies and gentlemen.
We had ourselves some Connor-on-Conor violence! Going by Garlands actions, he shouldve been hit with a couple of penalties, but the referees ended up dishing out punishment for McDavid instead when he popped Garland right in the mouth with a cross-check.
WILD FINAL SECONDS IN VANCOUVER pic.twitter.com/SCu4C5X5rV B/R Open Ice (@BR_OpenIce) January 19, 2025 In the defense of Connor McDavid, the other Conor was all over him, so the way Im seeing it, McDavid probably got frustrated and just decided to pop him.
And as you see, Garland got the message loud and clear because he backed off right away.
Sometimes thats just how you gotta handle business in sports.
When somebodys getting a little too physical with you, you just gotta give them a good pop.
Now dont get me wrong, Im not advocating for full-blown violence in our stadiums or anything, but I get what was going on here with McDavid..
