Geno Smith warned college football fans about Jeremiah Smith before incredible freshman season

Geno Smith tried to warn college football fans that his younger cousin would take over ...
and he's gone on to do just that.
Jeremiah Smith , Geno 's first cousin, might have just put together the most impressive season by a freshman in college football history, being the No.
1 receiver on the National Championship-winning team with over 1,200 yards and 14 touchdowns.
He capped off his first year in college football by securing the catch to see his Ohio State win their first championship since 2014, getting open on a deep pass from Will Howard to keep their offense on the field and not allow Notre Dame to have any time to tie up the game.
True freshman getting the amount of playing time Smith has enjoyed is unusual, but turning those minutes into elite production is something rarely seen in college football - with the Buckeyes star arguably being the best receiver in the nation in 2024.
And while only recruiters and scouts would have been aware of him this time last year, the Seattle Seahawks quarterback had told reporters that Jeremiah would be special.
In a 2023 press conference ahead of a Seahawks game, Geno had discussed his younger cousin's abilities before a reporter asked his name.
He replied: "His name? Jeremiah.
Youll all know it next year.
And speaking ahead of his first year with Ohio State after it had emerged that he'd won the starting position, Smith told reporters: "I've seen a lot of great receivers, and I've had the chance to watch a lot of JJ since he was about 10 years old.
He's gonna be the best receiver ever.
I really believe that." Smith put in an incredible MVP performance in the Rose Bowl to see Ohio State advance over Oregon earlier this month, having 187 yards and two touchdowns.
In that game, he was given a 94.6 grade by Pro Football Focus (PFF) for his performance - one of the highest ever given to a receiver.
The 19-year-old will not be draft eligible until the 2027 draft class, one that looks like it might be the best ever, along with fellow freshman receiver Ryan Williams and quarterbacks Arch Manning, DJ Lagway, and Dylan Raiola also in the mix.
