How many 2025 NFL Draft picks will be on the field in Notre Dame-Ohio State title game?

Turns out, teams that play in the College Football Playoff national championship game are loaded with NFL talent.
Shocking, I know.
Just look at the combined number of picks the two teams facing off in the title game have had in the subsequent NFL Draft over the last five years: 2020 NFL Draft: 21 draft picks (LSU 14; Clemson 7) 2021 NFL Draft: 20 draft picks (Alabama 10; Ohio State 10) 2022 NFL Draft: 22 draft picks (Georgia 15; Alabama 7) 2023 NFL Draft: 18 draft picks (Georgia 10; TCU 8) 2024 NFL Draft: 23 draft picks (Michigan 13; Washington 10) Advertisement And that doesnt even include future draft picks players selected later than that same years draft on those championship game teams.
On Monday night, Ohio State and Notre Dame will keep alive the trend of rosters stocked with NFL-level talent battling for college footballs crown.
How many 2025 NFL Draft picks will be on the field in Atlanta? Im projecting 22.
The good news, for both programs, is several of the best players on each roster arent yet draft-eligible.
Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith and safety Caleb Downs would be top-10 picks this year if they were eligible.
Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love is a special athlete and would be the first Irish prospect selected, likely joining Smith and Downs in the first round, were he eligible.
What about those prospects we will see in Aprils draft, though? GO DEEPER Who are the 2025 NFL Draft's most intriguing underclassman prospects? Projected 2025 draft picks on Ohio States roster: 16 There were seven Buckeyes in my recent two-round mock draft .
Left tackle Josh Simmons, who wont even be playing in Mondays title game because of injury, was first off the board (No.
10 to the Chicago Bears), but his projection is based on how well he progresses in his rehab and recovery from knee surgery.
Wide receiver Emeka Egbuka, defensive tackle Tyleik Williams, tackle/guard Donovan Jackson and edge rusher JT Tuimoloau also were first-rounders, while edge rusher Jack Sawyer and running back TreVeyon Henderson landed in Round 2.

That would take more than half of the Buckeyes projected picks off the board before Day 2 of the draft concludes.
Six other Ohio State seniors have been stamped with draftable grades from NFL teams, according to sources: quarterback Will Howard, center Seth McLaughlin, linebacker Cody Simon, safety Lathan Ransom, and cornerbacks Denzel Burke and Jordan Hancock.
Advertisement There are still two Ohio State underclassmen who still need to announce their intentions regarding this years draft: cornerback Davison Igbinosun and linebacker Sonny Styles.
(The deadline for all other draft-eligible underclassmen has passed, but any eligible prospects playing in Mondays national championship have until Jan.
24 to declare.) WHAT AN UNREAL INTERCEPTION How did Davison Igbinosun even catch this for @OhioStateFB ?! pic.twitter.com/YlvorsDzSE FOX College Football (@CFBONFOX) November 2, 2024 Ill guess that Igbinosun declares and Styles returns, which would put Ohio State at 16 projected draft picks surpassing the previous record of 15, set by Georgia in the 2022 NFL Draft.
GO DEEPER Riley Leonard and Will Howard were 3-star recruits.
Now they're playing for the national title Projected 2025 draft picks on Notre Dames roster: 6 Two Irish prospects made the cut in my two-round mock draft: safety Xavier Watts (No.
61 to Buffalo) and cornerback Benjamin Morrison (No.
64 to Detroit).
And both make for intriguing evaluations.
Watts is a true ballhawk, with a combined 13 interceptions over the last two seasons.
He has average size and speed, which is why some teams see him more as a third-round prospect.
But his read-react skills versus both pass and run are outstanding its no coincidence he is in the right place at the right time as often as he is.
Morrison, meanwhile, was considered a solid first-round pick entering the season, but he had an up-and-down September and then needed season-ending hip surgery.
Scouts are assuming that he will declare, but his injury clouds that decision.
The consensus is that Xavier Watts is eXcellent #GoIrish | @xavierwatts6 pic.twitter.com/ZKRoNcA02T Notre Dame Football (@NDFootball) December 19, 2024 Likely to be the third Notre Dame draft pick (assuming Morrison turns pro) in April is quarterback Riley Leonard, somewhere in the third- to fourth-round range.
Leonards consistency as a deep passer hasnt been there, but the Irish also dont ask too much of him down the field.
NFL teams love Leonard as an athlete and person, though, and he has shown enough tools as a passer to have a decent chance at Day 2.
On Day 3, expect a pair of Notre Dame defensive linemen to be drafted: Howard Cross III and Rylie Mills.
The knee injury Mills suffered versus Indiana in the first round of the College Football Playoff could affect his projection.
GO DEEPER NFL Draft 2025 underclassman tracker: Which college football stars have declared early? The Irishs sixth projected draft pick is tight end Mitchell Evans, who has been Leonards most reliable target in 2024, despite working his way back from an ACL injury.
Notre Dame has several other prospects (wide receiver Beaux Collins, linebacker Jack Kiser and defensive end RJ Oben) who are considered likely priority free agents, but they will have a chance to rise during the pre-draft process.
Over the last five seasons, the team in the title game that ultimately had fewer draft picks that same year lost.
