Former Boston Red Sox catcher Kevin Plawecki officially announced his retirement from the MLB on Saturday after spending the last two seasons in the minors.

Plawecki, 33, played collegiately at Purdue and was a first-round pick of the New York Mets in the 2012 MLB draft.

He debuted with the club in 205 and was traded to Cleveland in 2019.

The Red Sox signed Plawecki in 2020, and he spent three seasons with Boston, hitting .279 with a .697 OPS, five home runs and 44 RBIs.

During his time as a Red Sox, he split time behind the plate with Christian Vazquez and Connor Wong.

After leaving Boston, he spent time with the Texas Rangers and in the minor leagues with the Pittsburgh Pirates, Washington Nationals and San Diego Padres.
