DePaul's nightmare is over.

Georgetown's just started.

On Friday, the Blue Demons beat the Hoyas, 73-68, for their first Big East win in nearly two years.

As CBS college basketball insider Jon Rothstein noted, DePaul's last conference win came on Jan.

18, 2023, or 730 days ago.

DePaul wins its first Big East regular season game since January 28th, 2023.

That's 730 days ago.

pic.twitter.com/SJK4KZozEk Per ESPN college basketball insider Jeff Borzello, the 39-game regular season conference losing streak was tied for the fourth-longest since 1948-49.

DePaul goes on the road and beats Georgetown THE STREAK IS OVER.

Its the Blue Demons first regular-season Big East win since Jan.

18, 2023.

They entered the day with 39 straight regular season conference losses, tied for the 4th-longest streak since 1948-49.

DePaul went 0-20 in Big East play last season and lost to Villanova, 58-57, in the first round of the conference tournament.

It beat Seton Hall by one point, 66-65, in the 2023 Big East Tournament but hadn't defeated a regular-season conference opponent since a 73-72 win over Xavier.

The Blue Demons' win against Georgetown was their first road Big East win since Feb.

24, 2022, also against Georgetown.

DePaul (10-9, 1-7 in Big East) had a couple of opportunities earlier this season to snap its streak of futility.

On Dec.

12, it lost in overtime to Providence (9-10, 3-5 in Big East), 70-63.

Nearly a month later, on Jan.

8, it fell again in overtime, this time at Seton Hall (6-11, 1-5 in Big East), 85-80.

Two games later, it nearly pulled off what would have been arguably the season's biggest upset in an 85-83 overtime loss to Associated Press No.

7 Marquette (15-2, 6-0 in Big East).

The loss is a step back for Georgetown (12-6, 3-4 in Big East), which has only made one NCAA Tournament appearance in the past nine seasons.

The Hoyas are familiar with DePaul's misery, going 0-19 in Big East play not long ago during the 2021-22 season.

In that way, Friday's result is only fair.

In early 2023, Georgetown snapped its 29-game Big East losing streak with an 81-76 win against DePaul, the second loss in its 39-game streak..
