Miami Dolphins general manager Chris Grier said he and coach Mike McDaniel have had productive conversations with wide receiver Tyreek Hill since Sundays season-ending loss to the New York Jets .

Hill, the Dolphins leading receiver for the past three seasons, suggested the possibility of not wanting to return to Miami after the Week 18 loss.

I will keep those between us, said Grier, who talked with Hill on Monday.

The one thing I would say is, in a frustrating season, he was very emotional in a game where we had a chance coming back from 2-6.

And I would say thats probably the thing Im most proud of, the players and Mike and the coaching staff is that we were 2-6 and were playing Week 18 to potentially sneak in the playoffs.

And I think all of that with him playing through his injury just kind of bubbled to a point and from our conversations, again well keep that private, but we had productive conversations.

While noting Hill did not backtrack Sundays postgame comments, Grier also said, he never asked for a trade with me.

The Dolphins season ended at 8-9 and without another trip to the playoffs after advancing to the wild-card round each of the past two seasons.

Im opening the door.

Im out, bro, Hill said Sunday.

It was great playing here, but at the end of the day, I gotta do whats best for my career.

Cause Im too much of a competitor to be just out there.

McDaniel said he also met with Hill on Monday for about an hour to clear the air.

I think the competitive spirit of his can represent postgame, especially in a season or a game that nobody likes, it can allude to a relationship being one way, McDaniel said.

I think I was very direct with him.

He was very honest and it was great terms that we were discussing.

Discussed multiple things, including without wavering that its not acceptable to leave a game and wont be tolerated in the future, and he embraced accountability.

I wouldnt say theres anything necessarily to fix as much as we had to clear the air in a rough and tumultuous situation.

Hill led Miami in receiving for a third consecutive season with 81 catches for 959 yards and six touchdowns in 17 games but ended the regular season with fewer than 1,000 yards for the first time since 2019 and the third time in his nine-season NFL career.

He led the NFL in receiving yards last season with 1,799, tied for the league lead in touchdowns (13) and was second in receptions (119).
