Red Sox president reveals the club's goal for 2025, believes they can accomplish it | Sporting News

Prior to the start of the offseason, the Boston Red Sox consistently talked up their expected efforts, and through the first two months, they've added some talented players through trades and free agency.
However, Boston has yet to give out significant financial commitments.
Between the trades for Garrett Crochet and Carlos Narvaez and the signings of Walker Buehler , Patrick Sandoval , Aroldis Chapman and Justin Wilson, the Red Sox have added roughly $52 million to their payroll.
Only three of those players are locked in for multiple seasons with the club at this point (Crochet, Narvaez and Sandoval).
Speaking during the Fenway Fan Fest over the weekend, Red Sox CEO and president Sam Kennedy explained they don't have specific goals for their payroll, but they do have others.
I just dont know where this is all gonna go, Kennedy said (via.

We never really do, especially when youre in free agency and youre having trade conversations.
It feels like we still have work to do and were working hard on that.
But where we sit right now, were very optimistic about this group having the ability to win 90+ games, win that division and get in the postseason.
Were really pleased with our position but recognize theres still work to be done.
There's still time left in the offseason before Spring Training begins, and Boston should be using that time to address some of their biggest issues (right-handed hitting, bullpen pitching and infield defense).
While they've added some talented players, they still have holes and could benefit from adding more if they really want to compete with New York and Baltimore for the American League East.
