The Edmonton Oilers are facing some questions of their team toughness, which is leading analyst Mark Spector to believe that Josh Brown could see an increased role with the team.

Josh Brown is inarguably the Oilers worst defenceman, who was recalled from the AHL's Bakersfield Condors prior to the team's current road trip.

Spector believes that to make up for the Oilers lack of toughness through the lineup, Knoblauch may give Brown an extended run of games to see what they have in the veteran defender.

"They wouldn't mind having a little more physicality and they're not the biggest team, they wouldn't mind having a little more size.

I think it's time to find out if Josh Brown is gonna be the answer." - Mark Spector The Edmonton Oilers committed to Josh Brown this offseason with a three year contract for $3M total, but his preseason play was so poor that he was placed on waivers and cut from the team.

Oikers giving opportunity to Josh Brown, worst defender on the roster The roster move for Brown comes in the wake of Troy Stecher having a few below average games, and even being named the odd man out after the Oiler do make their top four defence trade.

Even though they may try Josh Brown in the lineup, he's clearly not the answer go any of the Oilers problems.

They may need some more toughness in the lineup, being ranked last in the NHL In hits, but it has to come from a full team mentality instead of one defenceman.

It should be telling by now that Josh Brown has only played 4 games with the Oilers this season.

For some reason Spector believes there's something here, but in reality, it just may be exploring an alternative for Stecher - a fairly inconsequential move in the grand scheme of things, This article first appeared on Oilers Daily and was syndicated with permission..
