Norfolk State’s Brian Moore Jr., Diamond Johnson are named MEAC Player of Week for fourth time this season

COLLEGE MENS BASKETBALL Norfolk State graduate student Brian Moore Jr.
was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Player of the Week on Monday for the fourth time this season.
The 6-2 guard from Harlem, New York, registered 33 points, five rebounds and six assists in the Spartans victory Sunday at High Point, the Big South Conference favorite.
He was 13 of 21 from the field and 7 of 7 from the free-throw line.
Hampton guard Daniel Johnson was named the Coastal Athletic Association Rookie of the Week.
The freshman from Chicago came off the bench to score nine points in 17 minutes to help Hampton defeat Howard 83-67 Saturday on CBS, the Pirates fifth consecutive victory.
He was 3 of 5 from the floor, including 2 of 4 from beyond the arc.
Davidsons Connor Kochera, a former William & Mary standout, was named the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week.
He had a career-high 34 point game against Eastern Michigan, shooting 11 of 13 from the floor and compiling five rebounds and three assists.
He hit 3 of 4 tries from 3-point range.
COLLEGE WOMENS BASKETBALL Norfolk State guard Diamond Johnson was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the fourth time this season after propelling the Spartans to a triumph over Auburn, NSUs second road win this season against a Southeastern Conference opponent.
She had 17 points, 11 rebounds, three assists and four steals, becoming the first player to lead NSU in all of those categories in one game since 2020.
LACROSSE Former Virginia midfielder Brian Carroll will be inducted into the Greater Baltimore Lacrosse Foundation Hall of Fame in the class of 2025.
The ceremony will be at Martins Valley Mansion in Cockeysville, Maryland on Jan.

Carroll, who starred in high school for Gilman, is the 13th UVA mens lacrosse alum to be inducted into the GBLF Hall of Fame.
In 70 games for the Cavaliers from 2007-10, Carroll had 94 goals and 34 assists.
He set a program record with 12 game-winning goals and was a three-time All-American.
Former goalkeeper Lisa Dixon, a 1997 William & Mary graduate, also is to be inducted.
She posted a 43-23 record with the Tribe and helped W&M earn three NCAA Tournament berths.
HIGH SCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY The VHSL announced its all-state teams in each class, awarding the top 10 finishers in each championship race.
Among boys, Maury junior Mateo Canga (second in 16 minutes, 10 seconds), Princess Anne senior Andrew Meek (sixth in 16:36) and Warwicks Nate Cochran (eighth in 16:38) were honored in Class 5.
Also, Jamestown freshman Jonathan Grimm (second in 16:00) in Class 4 and Poquoson junior Jacob Wines (fifth in 16:51.20) gained awards in Class 2.
Among girls, Ocean Lakes senior Lindsay Meadows (fifth in 19:42) and junior Frederika Bartsch (ninth in 20:05) received Class 5 honors, as did Warwick junior Ariana Logsdon (eighth in 20:01).
In Class 4, Jamestown junior Emily Dahl (fourth in 19:07) was cited.
In Class 3, Grafton freshman Amelia Valenti (seventh in 18:54.40) gained honors..
