A’ja Wilson makes history as Aces defeat Sun

Aja Wilson led the Aces with 29 points and 9 rebounds, 3 assist and 2 blocks in their 84-71 win against the Sun.

With the win, the Aces improve to 25-13, while the Sun fall to 27-11.

The Sun got as close as two points with one minute left before the Aces extended their lead back to seven with a late three-pointer from Kiah Stokes.

Marina Mabrey would respond by nailing a buzzer-beating three to end the quarter.

The Aces led for much of the second quarter, but the Sun went on a 7-0 run to take a 39-37 lead, their second of the game.The lead did not last long, as Kelsey Plum led the Aces to an 11-1 quarter-ending run.

Plum scored 9 of the Aces 11 points to end the quarter, giving them a 48-40 advantage at halftime.

Meanwhile, the Aces shot 10-16 (62.5%) from the field, outscoring the Sun 23-11 in the quarter and leading 71-51 entering the fourth.

The historic shot came with 1:57 left in the fourth quarter on a feed from Jackie Young, putting the Aces up 84-68.

Box Score Four Aces scored in double digits, led by Aja Wilson, who had 25 points, 9 rebounds, three assist, and two blocks.

Wilson made history becoming the first player in WNBA history to score 1000 points in a single-season.

Kelsey Plum ended with 14 points, four assists, and three rebounds, shooting 6-8 from the floor.

Jackie Young had 13 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists while hitting 3 three-pointers.

Chelsea Gray scored 9 points on 4-8 shooting from the field, while Megan Gustafson added 8 points.

Marina Mabrey led the Sun with 18 points (7-10 from the field), while Brionna Jones had 17.

Tyasha Harris added 16 points to the Aces double-figure scoring total.

The Aces will travel to Seattle on Tuesday to face the Storm, with tip-off at 7 p.m.

The game will be aired on NBA TV.
