New York Daily News | Peter Sblendorio : Corbin Burnes choosing to sign with the Arizona Diamondbacks wouldnt seem to be huge news for the Yankees , but that decision has had major consequences for New Yorks rivals.

Both the Blue Jays and Orioles made large offers to Burnes, and the incumbent Os are now left searching for an alternative with their ace gone.

Baltimores rotation looks suspect well into the offseason, and its fair to wonder whether the Yankees primary rivals at the moment are doing enough to keep pace heading into 2025.

MLB.com : With 2025 upon us, MLB selected a breakout player for every team.

Beat writer Bryan Hoch chose for the Yankees, and selected Austin Wells.

2024 could have been viewed as a breakout for the young catcher, but its also easy to envision Wells taking another step forward in 2025.

Wells shook off an early slump and some bad luck to look like one of the very best catchers in the league for the middle part of last season.

If he can sustain that performance to the end of the year, 2025 could be massive for the Yankee backstop.

The Athletic | Will Sammon and Katie Woo : ($) The Athletic has the latest on the Orioles search for pitching post-Burnes, with sources suggesting theyre going hard after Jack Flaherty.

Baltimore seems loath to surrender a draft pick by signing a player that rejected a qualifying offer, so Flaherty, who comes without a QO attached, appears attractive to them.

Also included are notes on Nolan Arenado, with the Yankees seemingly not actively pursuing the veteran infielder, citing a belief that DJ LeMahieu could contribute if healthy in 2025.

Time will tell if that is merely (hopefully?) a smokescreen the team is using to disguise their true intentions for their infield this year..
