FAIRFIELD, Conn.

Former Queensbury standout Lance Hayes set an indoor track record for Sacred Heart University on Dec.

13.

Hayes, a junior, set the school record in the 600 meters as he ran to a fifth-place finish with a time of 1 minute, 21.90 seconds at the Wagner College Seahawk Shootout on Staten Island.

For his record-setting effort, Hayes was named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Track Athlete of the Week.

He also ran on the Pioneers fourth-place 1,600 relay, which finished in 4:26.40.

On Dec.

7, Hayes finished fourth in the 1,000-meter run at the Yale Season Opener.

Burke wraps up career at Bentley WALTHAM, Mass.

Former Lake George standout Jazzy Burke, a senior libero, helped the Bentley University womens volleyball team reach the Final Four of the NCAA Division II tournament.

The Falcons finished a historic season at 26-7, falling to Lynn University in three sets in the national semifinals, on Dec.

13 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

In the Elite Eight, Burke finished with 19 digs in a 3-2 victory over Ferris State on Dec.

12.

Burke finished her senior season at Bentley with 445 digs, an average of 13.5 per game, as well as 95 assists and 38 service points.

She wrapped up her four-year career with 1,759 digs, 369 assists and 178 points.

Girard second-leading scorer for Sage Former Glens Falls standout Noah Girard, a senior guard and co-captain for the Russell Sage College mens basketball team, is averaging 11.5 points per game this season.

Starting all eight games for 6-2 Sage, the 6-foot Girard is shooting 40% from the floor and is second on the team in scoring.

He has scored a program-record 121 3-pointers in his four-year career.

He entered the season with 832 career points, 101 steals and 165 assists, good for seventh, fifth and eighth on the Gators all-time lists.

Girard was a third-team All-Empire 8 Conference selection as a junior last year, in which he led Sage with 16.3 ppg and shot 40% from the field and 82.5% from the foul line.

Beagle leads Richmond in assists Former Hudson Falls standout Jonathan Beagle is fitting in just nicely on the NCAA Division I University of Richmond mens basketball team this season.

A 6-foot-10 junior, Beagle is averaging 2.7 assists per game to go along with 10.1 points per game.

Beagle transferred to the Spiders after playing last season at the University at Albany.

In 22 games played last year, Beagle averaged 12.5 points per game and 9.5 rebounds.

York starting as sophomore at Presbyterian Lake George graduate Grace York is back for her sophomore season on the Presbyterian College womens wrestling team.

York finished last year with a 14-18 record at 109 pounds.

This season, York is starting at 103 pounds and off to a 4-3 record.

She finished third last season at the Wasp Open in Virginia.

The Blue Hose are 2-1 overall to start the year and have the Midlands Championships at Northwestern University next on their docket.

The Southeast Regional Championships are scheduled for Franklin Springs, Georgia, on Feb.

Tougas enjoying success with new squad Former Glens Falls basketball standout Sophie Tougas is playing for the NCAA Division I College of Charleston womens basketball team.

She spent her previous four collegiate seasons at Cal State-Bakersfield.

Tougas, a 6-foot redshirt junior guard, is averaging 5.1 points and 2 rebounds per game, and shooting 43% from the field.

Charleston is currently 8-1 this season and has rattled off three straight wins.

In 2022-23 with CSUB, Tougas started 19 games and averaged 8.3 points per game.

She finished her career at CSUB, which was interrupted by a medical redshirt, averaging 7 points and 3.7 rebounds per game..
