The Yankees , who need to add at least one corner infielder, were reportedly in on the 34-year-old before negotiations stalled.

Pete Alonso is the clear top option at first, with Paul Goldschmidt also available and several mid-tier potential trade options.

The Walker signing almost certainly ends the Houston tenure of third baseman Alex Bregman, with whom the Yankees have also been linked.
