Former Florida International linebacker Travion Barnes announced his commitment to Baylor on Friday.
Barnes was named the Conference USA Defense Player of the Year last season after finishing with 129 tackles, which led Conference USA and was third in the nation.
It was the second-most tackles in a season in FIU history.
Barnes had eight games for the Panthers last season with double-digit tackles and finished with 10.5 tackles for loss (the third-most in CUSA), three sacks and two interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown.
In two seasons in junior college at Georgia Military, Barnes had 147 tackles, 19 TFLs and five sacks in 16 games.
He is the eighth overall player and the second linebacker Baylor has added via the transfer portal this offseason, joining Fresno State linebacker Phoenix Jackson .
