Uniontown took control in the second and third quarters in breezing past WPIAL opponent McGuffey, 74-35, on Friday morning in the KSA Pre-Holiday Tournament at the Gaylord Palms Convention Center in Kissimmee, Fla.

The Red Raiders (3-0, 7-1) play for the championship on Saturday at 2 p.m.

against Mainland out of Daytona Beach, Fla.

The Buccaneers have many notable alumni, including former NBA legend Vince Carter.

In Uniontowns victory over the Highlanders, Notorious Grooms had a game-high 24 points.

The Red Raider senior moved past Billy DeShields (1,329) and Don Yates (1,344) to fourth place on the all-time scoring list at Uniontown with 1,351 career points.

Uniontown assistant coach Ray Robinson is third on the list with 1,406 points in his career with the Red Raiders.

Isaac Ellsworth added 18 points, and Calvin Winfrey III (16) and Kelan Milsom (10) were also in double figures.

Aydan Cunningham led McGuffey (1-0, 6-1) in scoring with 16 points.

Uniontown had a 19-13 lead after the first quarter and stretched its advantage to 39-22 at halftime.

A 26-6 edge in the third quarter pushed the Red Raiders lead to 66-28 heading into the fourth period.

Serra Catholic 82, Geibel Catholic 42 The Eagles had four players in double figures in dominating the Gators in Class A Section 2 play on Thursday night at Geibel.

Owen Dumbroski had a game-high 25 points.

Tyler Sapida put in 18, and Brayden Graham (12) and Jake Holmes (10) were also in double digits.

Geibel (0-1, 4-3) was led in scoring by Eahn Stevensons 13 points.

Teammate Roman Riccelli had 10.

Serra Catholic improved to 1-0 in section play and 8-1 overall.

Girls basketball Laurel Highlands 79, Southmoreland 13 After dropping two Class 4A Section 3 contests to South Park and Elizabeth Forward, the Lady Mustangs got back on track Thursday night in a resounding victory over the Lady Scotties at Harold Horse Taylor Memorial Gymnasium.

Laurel Highlands (1-2, 5-3) had a 32-4 lead after the first quarter and never looked back.

The Lady Mustangs had a 51-9 halftime advantage, as the second half was played with a running clock.

LH played without starter Aryianna Sumpter for the third-straight game, but Aierra Jenkins had a game-high 25 points.

Righteous Richardson dropped 15 for the Lady Mustangs.

Geibel Catholic 61, Bishop Canevin 51 The Lady Gators shook off a tough loss to Clairton to top the Lady Crusaders in Class A Section 2 play at Geibel.

Geibel (2-1, 8-1) had a 23-19 lead after the first quarter that was stretched to 43-29 at halftime.

Bishop Canevin (1-2, 5-3) outscored the home team, 11-9, in the third and fourth quarters but couldnt rally for the victory.

The Lady Gators Emma Larkin scored a game-high 34 points.

Teammate and freshman Mallory Clemmer had 14.

Kya Cooley led the Lady Crusaders in scoring with 15 points.

Isabella Susak added 12.

Clairton 83, West Greene 72 Karma Fuquod scored on a buzzer-beater to send the game into overtime and Iyanna Wade scored nine of her game-high 56 points in the extra session to help the Lady Bears rally to a victory in Class A section 2 play at West Greene.

The Lady Pioneers (1-2, 5-2) had a 41-27 halftime lead, but Clairton (3-0, 5-2) outscored the home team, 18-9, in the third quarter and 24-19 in the fourth before using a 14-3 advantage in overtime.

Madelyn Roberts didnt match Wade in scoring, but the West Greene sophomore came awfully close in scoring a team and career-high 42 points.

She made seven 3-pointers.

Teammate Kendra Tharp had a career-high, too, in scoring 20.

Jamira Childs (13) and Fuquod (10) were in double figures.

Bethel Park 73, Uniontown 35 The Lady Black Hawks remain undefeated in Class 5A Section 4 play after defeating the Lady Red Raiders in a home victory.

Bethel Park (3-0, 5-2) had a 21-5 lead after the first quarter and a 41-15 advantage at halftime to put the running clock into effect during the second half.

Emily Myers and Tessa Nicholson each scored 10 points to lead Uniontown (1-2, 3-4).

Saide Orie (22) and Ella Sabatos (20) paced the Lady Black Hawks in scoring.

Thomas Jefferson 63, Albert Gallatin 29 The Lady Jaguars were too much for the Lady Colonials in a Class 5A Section 4 contest at Thomas Jefferson.

The Lady Jaguars (3-1, 9-1) built up a 41-13 halftime lead and cruised to victory.

TJs Kaylee DeAngelo led the game in scoring with 16 points.

Teammate Maggie Spell put in 12.

Albert Gallatin (0-3, 2-4) was led in scoring by Mya Glisans 13 points.

Grayce Panos added 12 for the visitors.

Norwin 55, Connellsville 21 The Lady Knights had a 16-point lead after the first quarter in a Class 6A Section 2 victory at Connellsville.

Norwins Kendall Berger (17), Lexi Heller (12) and Bella Furno (11) were in double figures.

Maggie Orndorff led the Lady Falcons (0-1, 2-7) in scoring with 12 points.

Bentworth 29, Jefferson-Morgan 28 The Lady Bearcats used a five-point advantage in the fourth quarter to edge the Lady Rockets in Class 2A Section 3 play at Jefferson-Morgan.

Jefferson-Morgan had a four-point lead after three quarters.

The Lady Rockets were led in scoring by Leighanna Goodwins nine points.

Jesse Laskey had a game-high 10 points for Bentworth.

California 51, Carmichaels 17 The Lady Trojans had a 19-point lead heading into the second quarter and breezed to a Class 2A Section 3 win at Carmichaels.

Californias Leah Harley had a game-high 13 points and teammate Madyson Morton added 12.

Ali Jacobs led the Lady Mikes in scoring with six points.

Monessen 45, Mapletown 28 The Lady Greyhounds Madison Johnson scored a game-high 27 points in a Class A Section 2 victory at Monessen.

The Lady Maples had a one-point lead at halftime, but the Lady Greyhounds outscored the visitors, 29-11, in the second half.

Emma Zalar led Mapletown in scoring with seven points.

South Park 55, Belle Vernon 31 The Lady Eagles remain undefeated in Class 4A Section 3 play after taking care of the Lady Leopards at South Park.

The Lady Eagles (3-0, 4-1) had an 18-point lead after the first quarter and never looked back.

Nika Contakos had a game-high 17 points.

Addison Kerr (12) and Bella Stromberg (10) were in double digits for South Park.

Saylor Lee led Belle Vernon (2-1, 4-1) in scoring with seven points.

Elizabeth Forward 64, Mount Pleasant 34 The Lady Warriors Michelle Jellison, Mia Sostaric and McKenna Bittner were all in double figures in a Class 4A Section 3 victory at Elizabeth Forward.

Jellison had a game-high 26 points.

Sostaric and Bittner had 10 points apiece, as the Lady Warriors improved to 3-0 in section play and 4-3 overall.

The Lady Vikings were led in scoring by Morgan Gesinksis 13 points.

Boys wrestling Norwin 54, Frazier 15 Ryan Celaschi won his 100th-career match but the Commodores suffered a non-section setback to the Class 3A powerhouse Knights.

Celaschi won by technical fall, 17-2, at 160 pounds.

Teammates Jonah Erdely (152) and Jackson Angelo (189) also won by technical fall.

Erdely earned a 15-0 victory and Angelo had a 23-3 advantage in his victory.

Norwin, who is coached by Connellsville graduate Kyle Martin, improved to 11-0.

Frazier dropped to 4-4.

Bentworth 65, Mount Pleasant 12 The Vikings Nick Morell won by fall but the Bearcats were too much in non-section action at Bentworth.

Morells pin came in 3:34 in the 114-pound weight class.

Mount Pleasants Tristan Wtorkiewiez won by forfeit at 145.

The Bearcats Drake McClure (133), Bryce Crowson (139), Racer Litster (189) and Alex Rusilko (285) won by fall.

Owen Ivcic earned a 19-3 technical fall victory at 172.

Swimming Girls: Laurel Highlands 89, Greensburg Salem 54; Boys: Greensburg Salem 86, Laurel Highlands 64 The Golden Lions and Mustangs split a non-section meet with the Laurel Highlands girls winning and the Greensburg Salem boys earning a victory at Greensburg Salem on Thursday night.

Addie Ciez won the 200-yard IM in 2:25.92 in a WPIAL-qualifying time.

She touched the wall first in the 500 freestyle in 5:49.33.

Teammate Maddy Moore won the 200 freestyle (2:39.50) and the 100 backstroke (1:19.33).

The Lady Mustangs Mia Fabery won the 100 breaststroke in 1:32.95.

On the boys side, Kasey Mahoney hit a WPIAL-qualifying time of 23.87 in the 50 freestyle and the 100 breaststroke in a WPIAL cut of 1:03.48.

LHs Lincoln Metheny won the 200 IM in 2:27.54 and the 100 backstroke in 1:09.06.

Hockey Connellsville 4, Neshannock 3 The Falcons rallied from a one-goal deficit in the third period to edge Neshannock on Thursday at the Ice Mine.

Mason Mazak scored in the first period for Connellsville.

Logan House was assisted by Liam King for the Falcons second goal in the third.

Braden Rodgerson and Mazak also found the back of the net for the home team.

Sam Denney assisted on Mazaks second tally, which would end up the game winner..
