Burgettstown wins on Rush’s last-second shot

Savanna Rush hit the game-winning shot in the final seconds and tournament host Burgettstown edged Freedom 46-45 in a girls basketball game Friday.
Rush had a double-double for the Blue Devils (4-5) with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Paige Klodowski had a game-high 21 points and sank five 3-pointers.
The Blue Devils trailed by five points entering the fourth quarter, but outscored Freedom, 16-10 in the fourth.
Olivia Henderson finished with 15 points for the Bulldogs (1-6) and Mackenzie Mohrbacher scored 11.
Burgettstown faces Aliquippa in Saturdays championship game.
Freedom will play Monessen in the consolation game.
Aliquippa defeated Monessen, 74-17, in the other matchup.
Avella 44, Steel Valley 23 Ava Frank had 24 points to lead Avella (6-4) past Steel Valley (1-8) in the consolation game of the McGuffey Tournament.
Syd Strope added 11 points for the Eagles, who used a 20-4 margin in the fourth quarter to put the game away.
Ringgold 56, Springdale 37 Alayna Macioce finished with a game-high 17 points to pace Ringgold (4-4) in a victory over Springdale (4-6) at the Bentworth tournament.
Bella Massey added 13 points for the Rams, who will play Bentworth in Saturdays championship game.
South Fayette 64, Charlotte 45 Ryan Oldaker scored 24 points, Laliah Walker added 15 and South Fayette remained undefeated with a 64-45 victory over Charlotte in the Tampa Bay Christmas Invitational.
The Lions improved their record to 8-0.
South Fayette led 19-15 after one quarter before putting together a 33-16 scoring edge over the next two quarters.
Trinity 41, Walkersville 30 Sutton Williamson poured in a game-high 17 points and Trinity defeated Walkersville (Md.) 41-30 in the Deep Creek Classic at Garrett Community College.
Trinity (6-2) trailed after one quarter but outscored Walkersville 29-12 over the next 16 minutes.
Gabby Rieg scored 11 points for the Hillers, who will play Mountain Ridge (Md.) at noon Saturday.
Waynesburg 33, Jefferson-Morgan 17 Peyton Cowell scored 15 points and Waynesburg shut out Jefferson-Morgan in the first half en route to a 33-17 victory in the first round of the Carmichaels Lions Clubs annual tournament.
Waynesburg (5-2) led 13-0 after one quarter and 21-0 at halftime.
Jefferson-Morgan (0-8) outscored the Raiders in the second half.

Uniontown 48, Carmichaels 22 Uniontown dominated the middle quarters and defeated Carmichaels 48-22 in the Carmichaels Lions Club tournament.
The Red Raiders outscored Carmichaels (0-8) 32-13 over the second and third quarters.
Emily Myers led Uniontown in scoring with 12 points.
Avery Voithofers 10 points were tops for Carmichaels.
Bentworth 63, Propel Montour 10 Bentworth advanced to the finals of its own tournament by steamrolling an overmatched Propel Montour team, 63-10.
Jesse Laskey paced Bentworth (5-4) by scoring 24 points.
Kayla ODell added 11 for the Bearcats, who have won three in a row.
Fort Cherry 62, McGuffey 48 Amarah Martino and Olivia Kemp scored 18 points apiece to guide Fort Cherry past tournament host McGuffey in the championship game.
Maura Janovich posted a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Highlanders and Taylor Schumacher scored 12 points.
Boys results McGuffey 69, Fort Cherry 40 Aydan Cunningham and Jake Ealy combined for 39 points, powering McGuffey to a 69-40 victory over Fort Cherry and a spot in the championship game of the Avella tournament.
Cunningham led the Highlanders (8-1) with 21 points and helped McGuffey turn a one-point lead after one quarter into a 58-30 lead after three quarters.
Ealy contributed 18 points and Mason Nemeth tossed in 14.
Shane Cornali had 16 points for Fort Cherry (2-5).
Jefferson-Morgan 56, Beth-Center 37 Jase Bedillion scored a game-high 20 points to pace Jefferson-Morgan in a win over Beth-Center at the Carmichaels Lions Club Tournament.
Houston Guesman added 16 points for the Rockets (6-2).
Parker Amos led Beth-Center (4-4) with 13 points.
Canon-McMillan 80, Washington 43 Michael Detrich led four Canon-McMillan players in double-figures with 15 points in a convincing victory over Washington (2-5) at the Hiller Holiday Classic at Trinity.
Dylan Kelly finished with 14 points, Roman Koenemund had 12 points and Blake Simmons scored 10 for the Big Macs, who led 49-13 at halftime.
Canon-McMillan (2-5) will face host Trinity in the championship game on Saturday.

The Hillers trailed 20-9 after one quarter, but used a 24-14 advantage in the third quarter to take the lead.
Jonah Williamson added 15 points for the Hillers, who will play Canon-McMillan in Saturdays championship game.

Geibel Catholic 79, Burgettstown 48 Seth Dolan had 18 points on six 3-pointers and Geibel Catholic (5-3) downed tournament host Burgettstown (1-6).

Chartiers-Houston 60, Avella 46 Justus Buckingham had 21 points and Nate Greory scored 20 to lead the Bucs (7-2) past tournament host Avella (3-4).
Chartiers-Houston shutout Avella, 21-0, in the third quarter to take control.

Nazareth Prep 63, Bentworth 45 Will Evens led three Nazareth Prep players in double figures with 17 points and the Saints broke open a close game with a big third quarter to beat Bentworth 63-45 in the Bearcats holiday tournament.
Nazareth Prep (5-2) led 30-24 at halftime and then outscored Bentworth (2-6) by a 16-6 margin in the third quarter to forge a double-digit lead.
Mikey Keys had 14 points and A.J.
Crew scored 10 for Nazareth Prep.
Bentworth received a game-high 22 points from Ben Hays.
Carrick 64, West Greene 55 Carrick pulled away in the middle quarters and then had to hold off a late charge by West Greene to defeat the Pioneers 64-55 in the Bentworth tournament.
Carrick (3-4) trailed 17-9 after one quarter but pulled ahead 32-28 at halftime and led 46-39 at the end of three quarters.
West Greene (5-3) closed to within four points in the fourth quarter but Carrick secured the win at the free-throw line.
Carricks Bryaden Fisher scored 19 points and Stephon Malloy had 18.
West Greenes Lane Allison had a game-high 31 points and Parker Burns hit double figures with 10.
California 64, Westinghouse 63 Caden Monticelli scored 29 points, grabbed 14 rebounds and led California to a 64-63 victory over Westinghouse in the first round of Monessens Devil Miller Memorial tournament.
California (2-6) led 39-31 after three quarters before withstanding a 32-point fourth quarter by Westinghouse (0-5).
Jacob Ziolecki scored 14 points and Vinny Manzella tossed in 13 for the Trojans.
Monessen 67, Beaver County Christian 46 Rodney Johnson led three Monessen players in double figures with 16 points and the Greyhounds defeated Beaver County Christian.

Carmichaels 56, Mapletown 25 Robbie Wilson-Jones scored 14 points and Steve Lewis added 11, powering Carmichaels to a 56-25 win over winless Mapletown 56-25 in the Carmichaels Lions Club Tournament.
Carmichaels (2-5), which has won two in a row, will play Jefferson-Morgan for the tournament title Saturday at 7 p.m.
Lucas Stevenson led Mapletown (0-7) with nine points.
Toronto (Ohio) 65, Waynesburg 40 Austin Buchanan scored 20 points, Brady Fair added 15 and host Toronto (Ohio) defeated Waynesburg 65-40.
Toronto led 27-17 at halftime and pulled away in the second half despite Alex VanSickle scoring 18 points for Waynesburg (1-7).
Deer Lakes 71, Belle Vernon 59 Nate More had a game-high 24 points to help tournament host Deer Lakes (8-2) topple Belle Vernon (6-4).
