Ex-college QB star Tommy Lazzaro dead at age of just 27 after horrific hunting accident on air force base

FORMER college football star Tommy Lazzaro, better known as "Touchdown Tommy," has died aged just 27.

The ex-Central Michigan Chippewa died in a tragic hunting accident.

The incident happened on an Air Force base in Florida .

He was hit by a stray bullet and died from his injuries.

The news of his death on Sunday was announced by the university .

Lazzaro was nicknamed Touchdown Tommy back in his playing days.

He helped lead the team to a MAC title game appearance in 2019.

The QB joined the United States Army after graduating.

His death happened on a range at the Eglin Air Force Base in Freeport, Florida, in the western panhandle.

"When we took over the program, Tommy was truly our leader in so many ways, head coach Jim McElwain, who took over the program in 2019, said in a statement.

"CMU Football was blessed to have him and will always remember him for all he did for many of us.
