CC Sabathia hopes to wear a New York Yankees cap when he enters the Baseball Hall of Fame.

The six-time All-Star and Cy Young winner told the New York Daily News Gary Phillips that there is no doubt about which team he would represent even though he won his Cy Young with the then-Cleveland Indians.

Absolutely, the 44-year-old quickly told Phillips when asked if hed enter the Hall of Fame as a Yankee.

Sabathia is on the Baseball Writers Association of Americas Hall of Fame ballot for the first time.

Im excited, Sabathia said.

Thats something that I never thought about when I was playing or dreamt about, but to have people consider me to be a Hall of Famer is exciting.

Well see what happens.

I mean, I played.

I did my thing.

Now its just up to the writers to do the voting.

The 2025 inductees will be announced on Jan.

21.

Former Yankee Ichiro Suzuki, who will go in as a Seattle Mariner, seems like an absolute lock.

Sabathia has a really good case as well.

Sabathia ended his career in 2019 with 251 wins, a 3.74 ERA, and 3,093 strikeouts over 3,577.1 innings.

He is one of 19 pitchers in the 3,000-strikeout club.

He is just one of three left-handers to reach the 3,000-strikeout mark joining Steve Carlton and Randy Johnson, who are both in the Hall of Fame.

Other players who spent time with the Yankees on the Hall of Fame ballot include Bobby Abreu, Carlos Beltran, Curtis Granderson, Andruw Jones, Russell Martin, Brian McCann, Andy Pettitte, Alex Rodriguez and Troy Tulowitzki.
