The NHL suspended Matt Rempe for eight games after a dangerous hit on Miro Heiskanen , which prompted Elliotte Friedman to make a wild prediction about his fate.

Last Friday, the New York Rangers' controversial enforcer Matt Remp landed one of the dirtiest hits of his career on Dallas Stars' standout defenseman Miro Heiskanen.

If you missed it, check it out here: He was ejected from the game and summoned to a hearing by the NHL's Department of Player Safety.

Finally, on Sunday, the NHL announced that Rempe would serve an eight-game suspension: The insider Elliotte Friedman shared his take on the situation, saying he hoped that Rempe would learn his lessons.

He added that if he doesn't he will keep being suspended and eventually, his NHL career could end.

'In the old days, like, probably the 80s, that suspension would stop at seven [games] and you would have seen a day where the Dallas Stars were probably going to be allowed to get revenge on their own.' The numbers don't lie.

Rempe, 22, took part in only 22 games in his career.

He was ejected from four of those, tallying 95 penalty minutes.

He also scored two points, including one goal.

He added another goal in the playoffs, notably taking part in last year's Rangers' run.

It'll be interesting to see if Rempe changes his style after he returns to the lineup.

If he doesn't, he could already be nearing the end of his NHL career.
