Granville-Whitehall, Corinth fare well at MatMania; Queensbury boys hoops stays hot; more
Granville-Whitehall finished with 157 team points to place runner-up to Central Catholic, which had 169 1/2 points.
Corinth finished with 118, South Glens Falls was seventh with 97 and Glens Falls took 10th with 79.
G-W junior CJ Monty won the 215-pound weight class with a pin in 1:06 over teammate Antonio Landon.
Placing second for G-W were Nathan Barber (145), Ayden Smith (160) and Jaxon Torres (170), while Brandon Beaver (190) took third and Matt Ingerson (152) was fourth.
Corinth got wins from Aiden Schurr (124) and Keegan Baker (138), with Schurr beating Central Catholic's Izaiah Santiago 10-2, and Baker beating Niskayuna's Kolya Krisa 11-3 in the finals.
Lenny Rosa (101) and Riley Bernash (131) placed third for the Riverhawks, and Mason Rose (108) was fourth.
Glens Falls' Will Vanderminden finished first at 160, defeating G-W's Smith 5-1 in the finals.
Kaden Chamberlin placed second at 108 and Zack Pendell (124) was fourth.
South Glens Falls got third-place finishes from Logan Cox (116), Brayden Saunders-Jones (138) and Christian Faulkner (145).
GIRLS HOCKEY ADIRONDACK UNITED 2, BEEKMANTOWN 1: In a rematch of last year's regional championship, the United earned a hard-fought win, capped by Alyssa Temple's first career goal.
Temple scored the go-ahead goal on a power play in the third period, assisted by Lillian Willis.
Caroline Lieberth netted Adirondack's first goal on an assist from Aubrey Lozier.
Katelin Archer finished with 14 saves in goal for the win.
BOYS BASKETBALL QUEENSBURY 64, SCHUYLERVILLE 25: Troy Jorgensen and Chase Baker each scored 19 points Saturday to lead the Spartans to a Foothills Council victory over Schuylerville.
Mark Huffaker added nine points for Queensbury, which improved to 3-1 in the league, 5-1 overall.
The Black Horses (0-2, 0-2) was led by Adam DeGregory with 12 points.
WHITEHALL 54, MAYFIELD 47: Latrell Evans scored a game-high 32 points to power the Railroaders past Mayfield in a Coaches vs.
Cancer game at Hudson Valley Community College.
Tommy Barber added eight points for Whitehall (4-0).
Cubby Roth scored 18 points to lead the Panthers.
CORINTH 81, GRANVILLE 47: Braydin Stone scored 23 points and Avery Wood added 21 to lead the Riverhawks to an Adirondack League victory at Granville on Friday night.
Kaden Wright had 16 points for Corinth (2-0, 3-0), which rolled out to a 47-19 halftime lead.
Liam Farrell scored a game-high 25 points for the Golden Horde (0-1, 0-4).
BOYS HOCKEY OGDENSBURG FREE ACADEMY 3, QUEENSBURY 2 (OT): Ollie Coughlan and Jack Dickerson netted goals as the Spartans rallied to tie Ogdensburg Free Academy, but Laughlin O'Donnell scored the game-winner in overtime for the Blue Devils.
Dickerson scored on an assist from Jacob Wolf with 11:10 left in regulation to pull Queensbury (1-1-1) into the tie.
Dickerson and Brodie LaNoir also had assists for the Spartans, who got 36 saves from Eagan Breault..
