FanGraphs | Ben Clemens : The big Yankees news from yesterday was the teams acquisition of two-time NL Reliever of the Year Devin Williams from the Brewers in exchange for lefty Nestor Cortes and second base prospect Caleb Durbin.

Clemens exalts The Airbender, Williams unique screwball/changeup hybrid which has led him to a 1.83 ERA and 39.4 percent strikeout rate in his six-year career.

He also details what the Yankees lost in the detail; the crafty lefty Cortes and Durbin, a 5-foot-6 speedster who can play all over the field.

Clemens lands on this deal being the ultimate win-win for two teams each following very different formulas for contention.

New York Post | Peter Botte : Yesterdays other major MLB move was the Cubs acquisition of Kyle Tucker.

The Yankees were reportedly in on the right fielder but were unwilling to part with Luis Gil and others, including shortstop prospect George Lombard Jr., in a potential deal.

Tucker gives Chicago a glut of outfielders, opening the door for the Yankees to make a swap for two-time All-Star Cody Bellinger.

Bellinger, whose father Clay was a reserve outfielder for the Yankees from 1999-2001, still has two years and $52.5 million remaining on his contract, some of which the Yankees are believed to want the Cubs to eat in any trade.

The Athletic | Chris Kirschner : Another potential Yankees target is free agent third baseman Alex Bregman.

The longtime Astro would fill an area of need in the infield, with Jazz Chisholm Jr.

sliding over to second.

Yankees GM Brian Cashman acknowledged having a conversation or two with Bregmans agent, Scott Boras, about his client.

Its unclear if the two-time All-Stars role in the Astros 2017 sign-stealing scheme, which Cashman has decried repeatedly, will be a stumbling block to him ending up in pinstripes.

FanGraphs| Dan Szymborski : Szymborski breaks down his proprietary ZiPS projections for the Yankees, anticipating them as constructed to win in the high 80s or low 90s of games next year (ZiPS has the Orioles performing at a similar level in the East).

First base and DH grade out as the biggest red flags on the roster, with young players Anthony Volpe and Austin Wells expected to continue their development into strong regulars at shortstop and catcher.

Of note, this projection was released before the Williams trade, with Durbin expected to receive a plurality of playing time at second and Cortes slotted in as a bullpen arm.

MLB Trade Rumors | Darragh McDonald : The Yankees have signed right-handed pitcher Wilking Rodriguez to a minor league contract.

Rodriguez, who will turn 35 before next season, made two appearances with the Royals in 2014 before spending nearly a decade in Venezuelan and Mexican leagues.

The Yankees signed Rodriguez once before, in 2022, but he was poached by the Cardinals in that years Rule 5 draft.

Rodriguez is reportedly healthy and hitting 97 mph on the radar gun in winter ball after being limited the past two seasons by injury,.
