FOX analyst Joel Klatt jabs Penn State over noon kickoffs, White Out vs. SMU

Joel Klatt, a former Colorado quarterback and FOXs lead analyst for Big Noon Kickoff broadcasts, has taken a bit of a shot at Penn State on his most recent podcast.

On Wednesdays edition of The Joel Klatt Show, Klatt was previewing the entire College Football Playoff bracket, with extra emphasis on this weekends first-round matchups.

11 SMU, which kicks off at noon Saturday, he took his chance: Shocking, Klatt said, you can do a White Out at noon.

He then paused for a full nine seconds, tapping his notes on the desk, before resuming his analysis.

Granted, he was highly complimentary of Penn States Beaver Stadium environment and the Nittany Lions' 2024 team soon thereafter.

He picked Penn State to defeat SMU 34-12.

Penn State announced its first CFP game in program history as a White Out as soon as the selection process was over , disregarding the fact that the game would be played at noon.

Beaver Stadium last hosted a noon White Out against Michigan in 2015.

TNT will have Satudays broadcast, not FOX, but Klatt took his opportunity to pounce.

FOX has been center stage this season in Happy Valley, carrying three noon kickoffs with Klatt and the rest of the Big Noon crew.

Most importantly, though, that included the Ohio State game, which would have almost certainly been the White Out had it kicked off even at 3:30 p.m.

Instead, Penn State played another lesser opponent in the annual spectacle, beating Washington 35-6.

Penn States biggest game of the year has typically been at noon since the Big Ten signed a contract with FOX, NBC and CBS in 2022.

A FOX staffer already hinted to next years Penn State-at-Ohio State game being another noon start .

Klatt took to X near the end of the regular season to defend his companys staple.

But that didnt and wont ease fans' displeasure with Big Noon Kickoff.

Klatt also got one more jab in there before moving on to the next game he analyzed on Wednesdays show.

In a noon White Out! Wait, what? I was told reliably that that couldnt happen, Klatt said.
