College women’s basketball: Goodlett scores 17 in Catawba loss

Staff report SALISBURY Catawbas womens basketball team played well on Monday afternoon at Goodman Arena, but undefeated North Georgia played better.
North Georgia won 85-74 with guard Caroline Martin pouring in 27 points on 9-for-12 shooting.
The Nighthawks shot 56.4 from the field and out-rebounded the Indians.
Catawba (7-5) shot 45.2 percent with 10 3-pointers.
That usually will be enough to win.
Catawba also won the turnover battle 23-19.
North Georgia (9-0) led 43-31 at halftime, but the Indians climbed back into the game with a 26-point third quarter.
North Georgia responded in the fourth quarter.
Freshman Bailee Goodlett (North Rowan) had a strong game for Catawba with 17 points on 7-for-11 shooting.
She made two 3-pointers and had six assists.
Nala Baker scored 13 for the Indians.
Kaira Dixon-Booker had 12.

In a South Atlantic conference game played on Saturday, Mars Hill freshman Lauren Arnold (West Rowan) got 16 minutes of action in a romp over Emory & Henry.
Arnold had eight points, nine rebounds, five assists and three blocks..
