Their opening tipoff is expected around 6 p.m.

A multisport student-athlete residing in Waitsburg, Scott has been busying herself on the DeSales court since the start of the 2024-25 school year.

Volleyball season, which concluded Nov.

5 less than two weeks before basketball teams got the green light to begin practicing saw her make All-Grape.

I feel pretty good, Scott said.

We had a week off.

It gave us a little bit of a break.

Scott traces her basketball experience back to Second Grade, starting at the YMCA on South Park Street before playing for local Amateur Athletic Union teams.

She had already seen her older brother Drake (DeSales, Class of 2021) take up the sport.

I looked up to him, Scott said.

I wanted to be like him.

Scott credits AAU coach Bryan Eggart for teaching her fundamentals to lay the foundation for the success she now enjoys at high school varsity.

He was a really good coach and helped me to become a good player, Scott said.

Scott added that Irish coach Nick Hazeltine has been responsible for her continued improvement.

A lot of that is the result of summer basketball during the offseason.

But summer this year had Scott sidelined with a dislocated knee it came at a March track and field meet when she was throwing shot put.

She was out for five months.

Scott got cleared only a week before the start of preseason volleyball practices.

It made me realize the importance of weightlifting and keeping in shape to prevent injury, Scott said.

Hazeltine sees leadership in Scott.

Shes always a hard worker, Hazeltine said, and very humble.

Shes not the most outspoken athlete we have, but she speaks with her actions more than anything.

Youre always going to get 100 percent, no matter what.

She is one that everyone looks up to in this school, because you know that you can count on that effort that relentless effort every single day.

Hazeltine noted Scott set a school record last season when her grabbed 22 rebounds in a game against College Place.

As a coach, when you have someone like that who you know is going to show up for every day of practice and for every game is going to be your hardest worker, that just means the world, Hazeltine said, to be able to put someone like that, who also has the skills behind it, on the court.

Its been a privilege to coach her.

Scott values her time with the Irish.

I just like being part of a team making friendships, Scott said..
