In 1997, when Swoopes entered the WNBA for the Houston Comets, she asked Jordan if she could name his son after him.

Swoopes recalled this moment after seeing a video of her young self with Jordan in January 2023.

According to her, Michael Jordan agreed to her daring favor, although he presented a need that her son must fulfill: In this picture I remember I was pregnant, and I asked him [Jordan] if I could name my son after him, and he actually put his hand on my stomach and said, The only way you can name him after [me] is if he has a good jump shot, Swoopes said.

Swoopes, the NCAA champion, boldly answered to Jordans condition: And I remember saying to him, I think I might be saying that right here, but I remember saying to him, Hes gonna have a better jump shot than you ever had, Swoopes responded.

Michael Jordan and Swoopes had a bond back then.
