Whitefish native Fynn Ridgeway announces transfer to Montana Grizzlies football team
MISSOULA Fynn Ridgeway is coming back home to the Treasure State.
The Whitefish native announced on Tuesday that he will be transferring to the Montana football team with three seasons of eligibility remaining.
He spent the past two years at NCAA Division II Minnesota StateMoorhead.
"All glory to God," he wrote in a social media post .
"Let's get to work." Ridgeway played running back in a pass-heavy offense.
The Dragons attempted 598 passes compared to 192 rushes in the 2024 season.
He ran for a team-high 214 yards and three touchdowns on 59 carries in 11 games this past season.
He ranked sixth on the team with 207 receiving yards and two touchdown catches on 23 receptions.
He had redshirted as a true freshman in 2023 while playing in three games and preserving a year of eligibility.
He ran for 93 yards on 16 carries and had six catches for 40 yards.
Ridgeway, a Class of 2023 Whitefish grad, was a two-time all-state and all-conference selection while being a four-year starting quarterback and a defensive back.
He threw for 6,213 yards and 52 touchdowns and ran for 1,915 yards and 32 scores while playing for the Bulldogs.
He also had one punt return touchdown and one interception return touchdown.
Ridgeway is the first-known incoming transfer for Montana since the portal opened on Monday.
Four Griz players have announced their entrance into the portal: quarterback Logan Fife , cornerback Ronald Jackson Jr.
, linebacker Cooper Walton and defensive end Tyson Simmons.
Montana has extended offers to a few players in the portal.
Safety David Spruiells announced an offer from UM on Monday.
He redshirted at North Texas in 2024 after playing as a true freshman in 2023 at Northern Arizona.
He appeared in 11 games and made eight starts for the Lumberjacks.
He totaled 59 tackles, 3.5 TFLs, two pass breakups, one interception, one forced fumble and one sack.
He has three years of eligibility left.
Defensive end Finn Claypool announced an offer from the Griz on Sunday.
He was a two-time finalist for the Buck Buchanan Award at Drake and earned five All-America honors in 2023.
He was named the Pioneer Football League defensive player of year in 2023 and was a two-time All-PFL first-team selection.
He totaled 51 tackles for loss and 30.5 sacks in 38 games and 34 starts over four seasons.
He has one year of eligibility left.
Offensive lineman JT Hand announced an offer from UM on Friday.
He played in 10 games over four years at Arizona.
He has two years of eligibility left.
