Kirk Herbstreit’s son Chase makes decision over college football future after committing to team for 2025 season

KIRK HERBSTREIT'S son, Chase, has made a decision over his college football future.

ESPN lead college analyst, Herbstreit, played college football at quarterback for Ohio State.

But the 55-year-old's youngest son has instead opted to play for Michigan as part of the Class of 2025.

He announced the commitment on Sunday.

And despite playing for a different team, his old man penned an emotional post on social media .

He said: "So proud of you Chase! READ MORE IN FOOTBALL "Congratulations on this incredible opportunity.

"Look forward to watching you continue to grow and develop at Michigan.

"Keep grinding!!" The Cincinatti, Ohio native is a three-star recruit, according to 247sports .

Most read in American Football Herbstreit has been a standout performer at St.

Xavier High School.

He recorded 26 total touchdowns in his senior season and led his school to the regional finals.

The 6ft 2" quarterback weighs 190 pounds and is ranked in the nation's top 300.

He is the second quarterback to join Michigan after No.1 overall pick Bryce Underwood.

They have also signed offensive tackle Andrew Babalola, wide receiver Andrew Marsh and cornerback Shamari Earis.

Before joining Michigan, Herbstreit reportedly made multiple unofficial visits to Notre Dame and one to Ohio State.

After the university made the announcement, he simply commented with a message of "Go Blue" on the Wolverines page.

has worked as a college football analyst since 1995.

During his playing days from 1989-1992, he helped drive Ohio to an 8-3-1 record in his senior year.

Last month Herbstreit retired from ESPN's weekly College Football Playoff ranking show.
