New Jersey Devils Name Third, Overdue Ring of Honor Inductee

On Monday, the New Jersey Devils named the third member to be inducted into the Devils Ring of Honor.

On Wednesday, January 22nd, 2025 when the Devils host the Boston Bruins, Jacques Lemaire will be inducted into the Devils Ring of Honor in a pregame ceremony.

According to the press release, Lemaire was informed of his induction with a surprise phone call from two members of the 1995 Cup teamHall of Fame Goaltender Martin Brodeurand 2024 Ring of Honor Inductee Sergei Brylin .

Lemaire is the winningest head coach in Devils franchise history, with 276 career regular season wins.

Lemaires 35 postseason victories rank first in franchise history.

The 79-year-old former bench boss has coached the 20th-most games in NHL history and accrued the 22nd most wins.

Lemaire led the Devils to the 1995 Stanley Cup Final, where he and New Jersey claimed the Stanley Cup.

The press release states, Lemaire will be the clubs third Ring of Honor inductee, joining Dr.

John J.

McMullen, inducted January 6, 2017, and Sergei Brylin, inducted January 20, 2024.

The selection of Lemaire was made by the Ring of Honor Committee.

The committee, created last year and decides all future inductees, includes all five players who have their number retired by the organization (Scott Stevens, Ken Daneyko, Scott Niedermayer, Martin Brodeur, Patrik Elias ), the two Ring of Honor inductees (Peter McMullen, on behalf of The McMullen Family and Sergei Brylin) as well as select media/team executives.

Jacques Lemaire played an integral role in establishing the championship culture synonymous with the New Jersey Devils that we still strive for today, said David Blitzer , Managing Partner, New Jersey Devils.

Jacques was the consummate winner who had the ability to teach his players what it took to get to that next level, and we are proud to name him as the clubs third-ever inductee into our Ring of Honor.

All fans in attendance will receive a limited edition commemorative pin, courtesy of Citizens.

Lemaire will be honored with his wife, Mychele, and his family on the ice.
