RCTC men's basketball team splits road games

The Rochester Community and Technical College mens basketball team split a pair of road games Friday and Saturday, losing to Central Lakes College-Brainerd 84-74 and then beating Gogebic Community College 87-63.

It was the second time this season that RCTC had lost to Central Lakes.

ADVERTISEMENT We were not able to stop them defensively and they shot it extremely well both halves, Yellowjackets coach Brian LaPlante said.

They beat us in every statistical category.

Sam Jennings scored 16 points for RCTC and Jamison Lien had 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Leroy Barnes added 12 points.

Central Lakes led 42-28 at halftime.

Against Gogebic (Ironwood, Mich.), RCTC was much better.

Lien had 17 points, Barnes 14, Jennings 12 and Laden Nerison 12.

Lien also had 14 rebounds while Nerison had seven assists.

RCTC, which shot 54 percent from the field, led 48-35 at halftime.

RCTC is 6-3 overall..
