AC Touchdown Club inducts 10 new members

The Ashtabula County Touchdown Club Hall of Fame has grown by 10.
Harbors Lou Mongenel, Grand Valleys Ralph Childs, Conneauts Steve Nolan, Edgewoods Chris Chesnes, Jeffersons Zach Dennis, Pymatuning Valleys Jared McNeilly, Saint Johns Jim Severino, Ashtabulas Peter Jepson, Genevas Dan Patrick, and Lakesides Patrick Jones were inducted into the organizations hall of fame during an awards dinner Sunday at SPIRE Academy.
Since the Touchdown Club started its inductions in 2004, 265 players have joined in the organizations HOF.
All the inductees were present, except for Jones.
Nine of the 10 were inducted as players, while Nolan coached at Conneaut in the early 1980s.
The inductees thanked their families, teammates, coaches and those affiliated with their respective programs.
The central theme was how football taught them competition, camaraderie and hard work, while stressing relationships, lessons and memories the sport brought them both on and off the field and later on in life.
In addition to the HOF ceremony, other awards were presented to county players for the 2024 season.
Geneva senior Luke Barbo earned the Robert L.
Wiese Memorial Scholarship.
The son of John and Nancy Barbo, he is a three-year football letter winner for the Eagles.
Barbo earned first team all-county honors his junior and senior years, in addition to being selected first-team all-conference and all-Northeast District his senior year.
Aside from football, he has played basketball for the Eagles since his freshman year.
Barbo is a two-year member of National Honor Society and has been on honor roll for four years.
He has also volunteered his time and has participated in numerous civic and community events and activities throughout his high school years.
The other candidates were: Thaddaeus Huya, Conneaut; Michael Ochoa, Edgewood; Andrew Soltis, GV: Kaige Boczar, Jefferson; Christopher Erickson, Lakeside; Landon Paul, PV and Will Anderson, SJ.
Other scholarship winners included: Ashtabula County TD Club Courageous Sports Award: Ethan Hastings, SJ.

Buskirk Memorial Scholarship: Huya, Conneaut Robert M.
Herpy Memorial Scholarship: Paul, PV.
East Ashtabula Educational Assistance Corporation Scholarship: Ochoa, Edgewood.
Warren G.
Andrews Memorial Scholarship: Anderson, SJ.
Soltis also received a scholarship.
Ashtabula County Touchdown Club Scholarship: Boczar, Jefferson.
The first-team all-county players and player, offensive, defensive and lineman and co-coaches of the year were recognized, presented by the Star Beacon.
Lakesides Tierre Anderson, Boczar and PVs Ryan Croston were recognized by the 440 Sports Show.
Conneaut graduate Rylan Davison was the Outstanding College Football Player of the Year presented by Gazette Newspapers, for a second straight year.
Davison, who plays at Mercyhurst, finished the 2024 season with 41 receptions for 484 yards and five touchdowns in 11 games.
He earned Prime Performer recognition by the Northeast Conference for not only setting the Mercyhurst single game receptions record, but also securing a conference season high for receptions in a game with 14 during a 31-24 loss to Duquesne in early November.
Davison hauled in 14 receptions for 152 yards and two touchdowns..
