Kentucky vs.

Gonzaga is a superb early-season matchup, with each team entering this week ranked in the top 10.

These teams are meeting in Seattle and, to paraphrase Tom Hanks as Sam Baldwin, the Bulldogs are not looking for a mail-order nonconference opponent.

They just want someone they can have a decent game with.

Venue: Climate Pledge Arena Seattle Time: 10 p.m.

ET Saturday TV: ESPN2 Streaming: Fubo ( Get access | Save $30 ) Kentucky treks to the Pacific Northwest as the highest-scoring team in the country.

Mark Popes team is also third in rebounds per game and seventh in assists per game.

Six of the Wildcats top seven scorers are shooting better than 50 percent from the field this year.

Seven players average at least five shots, and no one takes more than 11.

This team of transfers has come together rather quickly.

Otega Oweh looks supremely confident as a leading scorer, and Koby Brea is making more than 60 percent of his 3s.

Advertisement The Wildcats took their first loss of the season Tuesday night, falling four points short of Clemson at Littlejohn Coliseum.

The offense stumbled to 38 percent shooting, and was on the wrong side of the turnover and rebounding margins.

Plus, Lamont Butler sustained an ankle injury.

Kentucky already has a signature win over Duke and Gonzaga is an equally-formidable team to draw.

The Bulldogs are fifth in points per game, and they boast the top rating on Basketball References Simple Rating System.

They currently share the third-best national championship odds, and their only loss thus far is an overtime grinder with West Virginia, some 2,700 miles away in Nassau.

Graham Ike leads Gonzaga at 13.8 points per game, and hes eighth in minutes played.

Thats wild.

Ryan Nembhard leads the country in assists at 10.8 per game.

Only four players in college basketball history have ever topped that, and it was last done more than three decades ago in 1987-88.

Thats also wild.

Nolan Hickman has gotten markedly better in each of his four Gonzaga campaigns.

He leads the starting lineup with a 63.8 effective shooting percentage.

And Mark Fews defense is holding opponents to an unsightly 24.5 percent rate from behind the arc.

With two of the best offenses in the nation, playing in a city starved for basketball culture, Saturday nights game could be one of the highlights of the sporting weekend.

Matchup history: This is only the fourth duel between these two programs.

Last seasons game was the closest one to date Gonzaga won 89-85.

Two years ago the second-ranked Bulldogs beat the No.
