Northern Colorado women’s basketball beats NAIA Central Christian 140-26

The Northern Colorado basketball teams split nonconference games Friday night with the womens team beating Central Christian College 140-26 at Bank of Colorado Arena, and the Bears men losing to Big 12 Conference member Texas Tech 89-64 on the road.
The UNC womens team broke program records for most points scored in a game, the largest margin of victory, field goals made and attempted, rebounds and steals in a game with the win over the NAIA Tigers.
The Bears, now 4-2, hit 57 of 91 shots from the field for 62.6 percent, they grabbed 55 rebounds and came up with 33 steals.
Central Christian (Kansas) is 0-3 this season.
Junior guard Julia Riley led UNC in scoring with 17 points on five 3-pointers.
Seven other players scored in double figures.
Freshman Neenah George scored 14 points on 7 of 7 shooting from the floor, and Tatum West added 13 points and nine rebounds and April Rummery-Lamb scored 12 points and grabbed six rebounds.
UNC hosts Tabor College, also an NAIA program, at 6 p.m.
Saturday at Bank of Colorado Arena.
The Bears play at Division I St.
Thomas of the Summit League on Wednesday in St.
Paul, Minnesota as part of the Big Sky Conference-Summit League Challenge.
Texas Tech shot almost 47% from the field in the first half, and the Raiders used a big run spanning most of the half to open up a 50-29 lead.
The game was closer in the second half with Texas Tech outscoring UNC 39-35.
The Raiders largest lead was 32 points late in the second half.
Quinn Denker, a senior transfer from Idaho, led UNC with 16 points.
Isaiah Hawthorne and Langston Reynolds each scored 12 points.
Hawthorne added four steals.
Guard Jaron Rillie led the Bears with six rebounds and four assists.
Hawthorne and Reynolds are the Bears leading scorers through nine games at 16.9 points.
Hawhthorne is the leading rebounder with 5.3 per game.
Reynolds ranks second at 4.7 rebounds.
