Jameson Williams penalized for 'unsportmanlike' act on Chicago Bears sideline

Detroit Lions receiver Jameson Williams was handed an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty after tossing a ball into the face of Chicago Bears cornerback Tyrique Stevenson.
On Thursday, to kick off the Thanksgiving Day slate, the Lions held on to clinch a 23-20 win over the Bears in Detroit.
The Lions dominated early while the Bears offense struggled to get going in the first half, but stormed back in the second half as Caleb Williams threw two touchdowns to Keenan Allen as well as one to DJ Moore.
But the Bears faltered late as head coach Matt Eberflus fumbled his time management.
After Williams was sacked out of field goal range, the rookie quarterback took too long changing the play, wasting around 25 seconds before finally throwing an incomplete pass toward Rome Odunze .

As a result, the Bears have slipped to 4-8 while the Lions won on Thanksgiving for the first time since 2016.
In the win, Williams tallied five receptions for 28 yards but caught the eye of fans with two memorable moments.
The first came in the third quarter when the 23-year-old hauled in a pass and burst away from defenders before hurdling over Bears defensive back Kevin Byard.
Williams spectacularly vaulted over Byard and continued running to finish a 15-yard gain, to the delight of the crowd.
The fans at Ford Field were left shocked as they reacted to Williams second highlight: throwing the ball in the face of Stevenson.
After being tackled and tumbling to the turf out of bounds, Williams got back to his feet with the ball in hand.
As he stood up, Stevenson reportedly told Williams: Get your b---- a-- up.

He turned around and threw the ball at the sophomore quarterbacks face, leading to his unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.
Williams has contributed a big-play ability to the Lions offense this season.
He has tallied 34 catches for 630 yards and four touchdowns.
Earlier this season, Williams was handed a two-game suspension for violating the NFL s Performance-Enhancing Substances policy.
The No.
12 pick in the 2022 NFL Draft out of Alabama, Williams missed 11 games in his rookie season following a torn ACL injury in his final college game before he was handed a six-game suspension after a 2023 investigation by the NFL determined he, along with four other Lions players, violated the league's gambling policy.
The suspension was later reduced to four games, and the speedster returned to the field in Week 5.
He has since developed into one of the key weapons for the Lions offensive juggernaut.
