Tony Romo, the former Dallas Cowboys quarterback turned NFL commentator, left fans squirming in their seats during Thursday's Thanksgiving face-off between the Detroit Lions and the Chicago Bears.

The Lions managed to fend off a late surge from the Bears, extending their impressive winning streak to 10 games with a tight 23-20 victory at Ford Field .

However, it wasn't the Lions' remarkable performance that stole the show, but rather Romo's cringe-worthy attempt at singing 'Circle of Life' from Disney's The Lion King.

During the second quarter, Ford Field hosted its usual 'Cub Cam', where parents in the crowd hoist their babies to mimic the iconic opening scene from the animated film.

After Jim Nantz, Romo's regular co-commentator, introduced the segment, Romo could be heard belting out an incredibly off-key rendition of the Elton John and Hans Zimmer-composed song live on CBS.

One user expressed dissatisfaction on X (previously known as Twitter), stating, "Jim Nantz saying that kids being held up like lions from The Lion King is a beautiful moment and sounding like he was tearing up only for Tony Romo to try and sing Circle of Life might be a top least favourite NFL moment of all time," adding "Happy Thanksgiving, y'all." Another queried, "Does anyone know why (he) sounds worse than a 50 year smoker?" and yet another critic added: "Tony Romo gotta go after that s***.
