Indiana Fever 'throw shade' at Connecticut Sun star after Caitlin Clark incident

Indiana Fever took aim at Connecticut Sun star DiJonai Carrington after a controversial run-in with Caitlin Clark .
Carrington has become well acquainted with the Fever and their fans following a much-discussed incident with the WNBA Rooke of the Year during the Playoffs.
Indiana was dumped out of the post-season by the Sun, but it appears they still have hard feelings against Connecticut's guard/forward.
During the playoffs, Clark picked up a black eye after an inadvertent eye poke from Carrington .
While Carrington explained that the incident wasnt intentional at the time and Clark also rubbished speculation of foul play, the Fevers social media team has not let the incident lie.
Bill Simmons shares Caitlin Clark stance in stark NBA comparison - 'not even a debate' Caitlin Clark tells ex-team-mate to prioritize basketball in seven-word message In celebrating All-Star forward Aliyah Boston s defensive prowess last season, in which the 22-year-old averaged 1.2 blocks per game, the Fever decided to build an animation of Boston swatting away a shot.
However, the player attempting the effort in the animation was Carrington.
Indianas use of Carrington did not go unnoticed by fans and the clip has stirred animosity from those who still hold grievances from Carringtons eye-poke and others who have called out Fever for perceived pettiness.
One user was a fan of the animation, writing: "Even better is that shes blocking Carrington (laughing emoji).
While another slammed Carrington, adding: "People like me remember when Carrington smacked Clark in the face last year then showed no remorse or even spoke to her.
So I have no problem with the animation, also its a real block from this season.
Shes kinda always been that way tho.
However, others werent happy with the Fevers social media approach, with one account saying: "This is a very unfortunate choice............
for an otherwise fire animation and accomplishment.
Very disappointed in the decision makers here.
A second complained: Bro fire the media team expeditiously it's 2024, this graphic was boo-boo just like the cored 6 graphic that was deleted mad corny.
The incident between Carrington and Clark occurred during Indianas Game 1 defeat.
Clark appeared after the game during media availability a couple of days later where she discussed her condition.
"[It] feels good.
It looks OK too, so I'm glad," Clark said before she shut down speculation of dirty play.
"It wasn't intentional by any means.
Just watch the play, she added.
Carrington was also asked about her coming together with Clark during the Suns availability after the game, and she insisted it was an accidental collision.
"I don't even know why I would intend to hit anybody in the eye," Carrington said.
"That doesn't even make sense to me.
But no, I didn't.
I didn't know I hit her, actually.
I was trying to make a play on the ball, and I guess I followed through and I hit her.
Obviously, it's never intentional.
That's not even the type of player that I am.".
