The LA Lakers win over the San Antonio Spurs saw undrafted rookie Armel Traore score his first ever NBA points.

Armel Traore scored two points in the LA Lakers 119-101 win over the San Antonio Spurs.

The Frenchman came off the bench to play just three minutes, making his third NBA appearance, following brief showings against Denver and New Orleans.

Traore also had a steal, and his talent is certainly giving the Lakers coaching staff something to think about, and reason to be excited.

JJ Redick excited about Armel Traore LA Lakers head coach JJ Redick explained during his post-game press conference that Traore has caused some excitement within the facility.

In reference to Traores NBA debut against the Pelicans , Redick explained that a short clip from his four-minute appearance has had the Lakers staff buzzing.

Redick explained: We think hes going to be a really physical defender.

He rebounds at elite level, but what jumps off the page is just how hard he plays.

You know, theres a theres a clip that made its way internally through our staff.

A number of people that work for the Lakers talked about it for two minutes, three minutes, something like that.

In the New Orleans game 10 days ago, he gets a rebound, and we have no advantage, and he is in a full on sprint to the corner to get to his spot.

[Im] sure the tracking data had him at about 18.6 miles per hour.

But its like thats how he is all the time, and hes been that way with our South Bay group, and you know hes a guy that were very excited to see develop in our system.

Armel Traore had big night with South Bay Lakers Redick described Armel Traore as an elite level rebounder and this is backed up by the numbers.

Traore had been with the LA Lakers G-League affiliate team South Bay Lakers , and produced eye-catching figures in their recent match-up against San Diego.

He had 17 points and 22 rebounds, with the board numbers a record for the team, and just behind the G-League record of 24.

The Lakers will continue to mix him in between the groups, and after his first points, the door to more opportunities may have opened.
