The Brooklyn Nets impressive recent form kept on rolling with a big win over the Phoenix Suns.

Kevin Durant faced off against former team the Brooklyn Nets and it was an unhappy reunion for the Phoenix Suns superstar.

Even without injured Cam Thomas , Brooklyn were able to get the win, 127-121, in large part thanks to an explosive third quarter they outscored the Suns 33-21.

The biggest story of the night was not Durant, it was Tyrese Martin , a player who has been on the Nets G-League affiliate this season.

He was drafted by the Warriors in 2022, traded to the Hawks, and played only 16 games.

After signing with the Nets, he has been a back-up, scoring a total of 12 points this season, the highest being 6 against the Celtics.

Against the Suns he exploded, scoring 30 points plus 4 rebounds and 2 assists, a career high.

Kevin Durant admitted after the game that the Nets did not show Martin enough respect, and they must learn from it.

He told a press conference: I think we left him open too many times in that first quarter, maybe because we had never seen him play before.

But everybody who steps on this court, puts a jersey on, weve go to respect a little bit more.

How Kevin Durant fared Kevin Durant matched Tyrese Martin with 30 points of his own, plus 8 rebounds and 2 assists.

This was just his second game back from injury , and a statistical improvement on his 23 points against the Lakers.

Durant is averaging 27.1 points per game this season, but needs the Suns to start showing some more consistency.

Phoenix are 10-8 for the season, which places them ninth in the West.

The Nets are 9-10, enough for eighth in the East.
