Former ESPN NFL analyst ‘closes in on new role’ over a year after he was brutally cut by sports network

FORMER ESPN star Todd McShay is nearing a move to The Ringer, according to reports.
The analyst, 47, was let go by ESPN last June amid several layoffs made by the company.
He has since appeared as a guest on The Ryen Russilo Podcast.
And the pair could now become colleagues full time.
According to the New York Post , McShay is in "serious talks" with The Ringer.
Earlier this week during an appearance on Russilo's show, the pair hinted at future collaborations.

McShay covered both the NFL and college football while with ESPN, having joined the network in 2006.
He boasts more than 700,000 followers on X, and is considered an NFL draft expert.
He was let go last summer alongside some of ESPN's biggest names.
Most read in American Football In addition to McShay, the likes of Max Kellerman, Jeff Van Gundy and Mark Jackson were also axed.
Earlier this week, he and Russilo produced an extensive look back at the Week 1 action in the NFL.
While they also touched on the latest goings on in college football.
The Ringer was founded by McShay's former ESPN colleague Bill Simmons in 2016.
It was then purchased by Spotify in 2020, with Simmons' contract set to expire early next year.
Yesterday it was announced that long-term NBA writer and podcaster Kevin O'Connor would be leaving The Ringer to take up a position at Yahoo Sports.
A FRESH START O'Connor had been with the company since its 2016 launch, and co-hosted The Mismatch podcast alongside Chris Vernon.
Upon O'Connor's exit, a spokesperson for Spotify revealed that The Ringer would be announcing new hires imminently.
"Kevin OConnor has been an integral part of Ringers NBA coverage, and were grateful for all the work hes done," they told the Post .
