When are bowl games announced? How it works with the 12-team playoff

HOUSTON With the college football regular season now complete, fans are asking when the bowl game announcements will be made.
However, with the newly expanded 12-team playoff, fans will have to wait until the playoff committee reveals the field first.
The committee will reveal the teams that made the college football playoffs at 11 a.m.
Central time on Sunday, Dec.
8 on ESPN.
According to the NCAA, the playoff will include the five highest-ranked conference champions, which will receive automatic bids.
The seven highest-ranked teams remaining will round out the field.
The four highest-ranked conference champions will be seeded 1-4 in the bracket and receive a first-round bye.
Seeds 5-12 will play each other in the first round with higher-seeded teams playing host at their stadiums.
New Year's Six bowl games will be featured in the quarterfinal round.
The semifinals will be played in bowls on a rotating basis.
The national championship host site is determined through bids by prospective host sites.
This season it will be played in Atlanta, Georgia.
The first round will be played Dec.
20-21.
